Nordstrom Rack Private Shopping Party

I wish I could say I was cool enough to have personally received an invitation to the Nordstrom Rack Private Shopping Party, but I only got to go because of a well-connected friend I have. When I was living in Arkansas and working at a high-end boutique, Emily was my manager turned great friend. Now, I am in Southaven, and she is in Memphis, so we are only about half an hour away from each other!

Emily got an invitation to the Nordstrom Rack Private Shopping Party that took place in Memphis on Tuesday, and she invited me to tag along. This was extra special because the store had not opened yet. In fact, the grand opening is today!

So we got to attend this big shopping party that included champagne, cookies, appetizers, and lots of amazing deals. I think that is pretty close to my definition of heaven.

I have become an avid Nordstrom shopper in the past few months. However, I honestly did not know much about Nordstrom Rack until this event yesterday. They carry so many fabulous brands that are highly discounted. I have been ranting and raving about Free People the past 2 days, and I am so happy to know they carry it at Nordstrom Rack!

IMG_6300.jpg

I got this Free People cardigan that is basically sold out everywhere, and it was on sale for 50% off! I already had the cream colored one and love it so much that I picked up this green one. I got it for my mom too. And Emily grabbed one. It is that great!

I cannot believe how many colors and sizes the Nordstrom Rack website still has in stock. We searched for this thing online for months, and we could always only find it on sale in a few sizes and barely any colors. If you like it, click here to be taken to it on Nordstrom Rack's website, and you can take your pick of which colors and size you want!

I also grabbed this ruffle sleeve fleece dress for $18.97. It is going to be my new weekend uniform that I wear with leggings. They only have small left online, but it is a great one if that is your size! UPDATE- it is now sold out. I'm sorry!

Something else I did while I was there was I signed up for Nordstrom's Reward Program. I've been wanting to get a Nordstrom credit card, but that idea is sort of scary to me because I've never had a credit card for a specific store. I need to learn more about it to see the effect it could have on my credit score. The lady there did tell me it will not impact my credit score if I pay off my card on time. However, their Reward Program has nothing to do with a credit card. It is free and you just have to give them your name, phone number, and email address to sign up. Click here to sign up!

Once you sign up, you get rewards every time you shop at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, and HauteLook. You can get points from online or in store purchases. And they have bonus points events from time to time, where you can get extra points. We got triple points when we shopped Tuesday because it was one of those bonus points events! Why am I just now learning about this?!?!?!? Who doesn't love to get free money to put towards their purchases?! Everyone should sign up for this!

One day soon I will apply for a Nordstrom credit card. You can click here if you want to go that route. You can earn more points and get more benefits as a Nordstrom cardholder. However, at the moment, I'm super excited about joining Nordstrom Rewards!

IMG_6298.jpg

Here's a better shot at my outfit I was so excited to wear for this fun event! I loved Emily's too. I thought it was such a classic look paired with a fun leopard print belt!

IMG_6310.jpg

Are you a big Nordstrom Rack shopper? I'm so happy to have learned more about it and to be a part of the Rewards Program. Thanks so much to Emily for the invite, and thanks so much to you for reading! Have a great day!

Brands I Love: Free People Part 2

Did you catch yesterday's Brands I Love: Free People Part 1 post? If not, you can click here to check it out. I talked about my number 1 favorite Free People top yesterday and several favorite dresses.

Today I'm sharing the rest of my Free People tops, which are my very favorite tops for fall and winter. Some of the price points are a little higher than I typically like to spend. However, items made by this brand are the best quality and will last you years and years and years!

Also, thanks to my mom and sister for taking pictures with me, and thanks to my dad for being our photographer! Sometimes I get sick of looking at pictures of me by myself over and over again, so I loved mixing things up and having them join me in a few shots! We all love Free People!

Cowl Neck Pullover- This is one of those sweaters you get your money's worth out of. It's so comfortable and a great length, so you can wear it with leggings or skinny jeans. I have my eye on this blue one and this oatmeal colored one. I shared my number 1 favorite Free People top yesterday, but this one is in my top 3 favorites!

Thermal Top- This is my newest top from Free People, and I love it! It is also in my top 3 favorites. It comes in 9 colors, and I want them all. I clearly have a thing for long tops I can wear with leggings, and this one is perfect for that. It also has thumbholes, which are always fun! I kinda bunched my sleeves up for the first picture, but you can see what they look like in the second picture! Also, they only had a large in the store, so you can see in the second picture that sizing up makes it a much slouchier fit. Some people prefer that. However, I went with the medium, and it is less slouchy but still flowy!

Button Front Blouse- I tried this top on a few weeks ago and loved it immediately. It is a classic button down shirt with a fun twist thanks to the sleeve details and cute hemline! I've had 3 people ask me to find clothing that is appropriate for work but also normal-looking for after work, and  I have to say this top is the winner! Perfect for work and play! I love versatile pieces like this one!

Plaid Tunic- I discovered this top during the big Nordstrom sale, and it sold out so quickly. I grabbed this blue one and the peach one because it is such a great plaid top with cute buttons down the sides. I saw where it came back in one size, so I linked it up. However, I'm scared it's going to be sold out again soon. If you ever see it in stock again, grab it!! This is my favorite plaid top I've ever owned.

Hooded Pullover- My mom found this top, and it is the perfect, cozy pullover. It runs really big. Size down one size. There is a lot of fabric, but we could not love it anymore!

Silk-Blend Cardigan- This cardigan was the It Cardigan last year, and we waited until it went on sale and grabbed it a couple months ago. It is still on sale!  My friend Emily and I picked it up in the pretty green color at Nordstrom Rack yesterday. More to come about that tomorrow! It is also available in select sizes and colors here and here.

I'll leave you with one final group picture, as well as the Free People top I will be buying next.. my mom's shirt! It is another 0ne of those versatile tops that is adorable for work and play!

Thanks so much for reading my Free People posts! Free People is a brand I truly love, so I am happy to share all about it. Have a great day!

Brands I Love: Free People Part 1

I accidentally skipped my post in the Brands I Love series for the month of September, so this month, I am giving you 2 blog posts dedicated to 1 brand I love! Free People definitely deserves more than one blog post. I can confidently say that it is my favorite brand for sweaters and fall tops.

Today I'm sharing my very favorite top by Free People and some of my favorite dresses. Tomorrow I will be back to share the rest of my Free People tops and sweaters.

My Favorite Free People Top- If you have read my blog posts over the past couple of months, you have probably seen this top 10 times. It is called a thermal tee and is the perfect lightweight sweater material, which makes it perfect to wear in the fall and winter months down south. You can see in the photo above that it is a very versatile top and can be styled in various ways!

I have the mint and also want the beige. My mom and Ebie have the mint and beige ones. My mother in law has 2 of them. One of her best friends got one. My Tridelt house mother has one. It's such a great top y'all! I did size down to a small because Free People typically does run on the larger side. However, I think this top is supposed to have an oversized fit anyway. The length makes it the perfect top to wear with leggings or skinny jeans and boots AKA my fall uniform!

FullSizeRender 31.jpg
IMG_3641.jpg
IMG_6251.jpg

Perfectly Victorian Dress- Free People has brought this dress back several years in a row now because it does so well and sells out every year! I have it in mustard and my mom has it in blue. These exact colors are no longer available. However, I LOVE the black and pink ones that are available. The dress is so fun that all you have to do is throw on a cute pair of shoes and some simple accessories, and you've got the cutest outfit!

IMG_2190.jpg
IMG_3602.jpg

Embroidered Minidress- How pretty is this dress? I love the bright lilac color and the embroidery. If lilac is not your thing, it comes in 5 other colors and is one of those dresses that you will be so happy to have in your closet! So easy to throw on with a pair of booties now and a pair of leggings and boots later on (if it ever actually cools down).

IMG_3647.jpg

Off the Shoulder Shift Dress- If I were still in college, I know I would have had this dress in red (even though it is not Alabama red) for gameday! However, now that I am out of college, I think I would get a lot more wear out of the black one. It comes in 4 colors and is so cute and fun!

IMG_6247.JPG
IMG_6248.JPG

Neutral Striped Dress- This was one of my favorite dresses of the summer! I love the neutral stripes, sleeves, and length. You can now get it on sale! I also got it in the other color way because I thought it was such a cute dress.

IMG_4629.jpg
IMG_1454.JPG

Magic Mystery Tunic- I actually got this last fall, but they brought it back again this year! It is considered a tunic, but it is basically dress length and looks adorable with leggings and boots! The fun bell sleeves are my favorite part!

Favorites from September

Today I am sharing some of my favorite things from September! Most things are items that are very much my style. One item is something very different and new for me. Before you start reading my post, can you guess which item is a little out of my style comfort zone (based on the photo below)??

Favorite Dress- I have been watching this dress for months. So many bloggers have posted about it, and I don't know why I waited so long. It is now sold out in 5 colors, so if you want it, shop fast! I ordered the navy, and this color is now gone. However, the black is still in stock, and several other colors keep coming in and out as people return them. It is just one of those dresses that is really easy to throw on and go, which is my favorite kind! Other outfit details: Crossbody bag // Shoes

IMG_6225.JPG

Favorite Outerwear- I purchased this during the big Lilly sale, and you can never be too sure about what exactly you're buying during the sale due to the adrenaline rush. However, I could not be happier with this purchase! The gold side buttons and fringe hem are so cute! It comes in 3 other colors, and I think the heather blue is so pretty. I put this in the outerwear category because it is considered a pullover. I love it! Other outfit details: Leggings // Boots

IMG_6211.JPG

Favorite Top- This is another item I watched for a long time, and when it went on sale, my mom got it for herself and for me. I am so grateful! I actually have 2 posts coming up in the next couple of days all about this brand. It is my favorite brand of sweaters and other fall tops. You cannot go wrong buying anything they make! Longer tunic-like tops are my favorite because you can wear them with leggings, which is always nice and comfortable. I linked it at Nordstrom where it comes in 7 colors, and I'll also link it at Dillard's, if you prefer to shop there. Click here for the link to Dillard's, where it comes in 5 colors. Other outfit details: Leggings // Boots

IMG_6223.JPG

Favorite Accessory- When my mom, my sister, and I were at Target last week, we saw these and had to get them! I got black and Ebie got hot pink. Statement earrings bring so much fun to an outfit! The black and pink are no longer available online. However, the periwinkle, coral, and gray are available, and they are on sale for $6.48! Amazing!

IMG_6224.JPG

Favorite Shoes- I have been loving the A New Day line at Target. Have you checked it out? The prices are so reasonable, and the pieces are so cute! I couldn't pick just one pair of shoes, so I chose to share both of my newest shoe purchases!

1. Over the knee boots- I have been stalking Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots for quite some time, but spending $800 on a pair of boots is not something I would ever consider doing. Especially considering I am new to over the knee (OTK) boots and don't know exactly how often I will actually wear them (they're a little edgier than my typical style). I'm all for trying new things though, so when I spotted these dupes for under $40, of course I had to get them! This is the item on today's list that is different for me, but I'm really excited about them! Other outfit details: Dress

IMG_6209 2.JPG

2. Leopard print booties- I have been all about leopard print lately! I was actually at Target looking for these bright pink mules that have been selling out like crazy. They didn't have those at my Target. However, they did have these leopard print booties in 2 sizes. The display just so happened to be my size, so I grabbed them for under $35! Other outfit details: Dress

IMG_6207 2.JPG

Favorite Bottoms- I have talked about my love for Old Navy Rockstar jeans and jeggings several times. They are basically the only jeans I wear. This season, they have introduced a new pair called the Rockstar 24/7. I have heard that these jeans were created from a collaboration with Old Navy and AG, so you know they have to be amazing! They are so comfortable that it doesn't even feel like you are wearing jeans when you wear these. They are not your typical denim material, so it honestly threw me off the first time I tried them on and I wasn't so sure about them. But I'm here to tell you- they are fabulous and the most super soft knit jeans you will ever wear! My mom has this pretty steele color, and I also love these black jeggings.

Do you have any favorites on this list? I'm excited about figuring out how to style the OTK boots, but I think my very favorite is the Free People top. I think I'll get the most use out of it. Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

Also, did you catch my Loft Sale post yesterday!? They extended the sale and you can still get 50% off everything online AND free shipping through today! Click here to go to yesterday's post and see my favorite things included in the sale!

Last Day of the Shopbop Sale + Weekly Recap

Last Day of the Shopbop Sale

In all honesty, Shopbop is not a place where I shop frequently. However, I follow a ton of fashion bloggers who know ALL about the best places to shop and the best sales. And I have learned a lot of information from following these girls.

Things I have learned:

  • This Shopbop sale started on Wednesday, and it runs through today.
  • You get 20% off orders under $500.
  • You get 25% off orders $500+.
  • The sale includes full price and sale items.
  • You have to use the code EOTS17 for the discount to be applied.
  • Shopbop is owned by Amazon, so if you have an Amazon Prime account, you can get free 3 day shipping and returns!
  • Some of my favorite brands included in the sale are Free People, Hunter, Sam Edelman, Tory Burch, Spanx, Madewell, AG jeans, and Kate Spade.
  • Several of these brands are rarely marked down, so now is the time to buy (even if you have to save it for a Christmas gift)!
  • Make sure you use the code EOTS17 for the discount to be applied!

If I could suggest one item, I would suggest these Spanx faux leather leggings. I got mine during the big Nordstrom sale. Ebie got some last weekend and paid full price because they are so fabulous. And now you can get them for 20-25% off (sorry girl). They are high waisted, so comfortable, flattering, and fabulous! But if you're not a faux leather fan, these black leggings are also made by Spanx and look flattering and amazing as well.

Part of the Shopbop sale- Leggings; Not part of the sale- Sweater // Boots (10% off at Nordstrom)

Part of the Shopbop sale- Leggings; Not part of the sale- Sweater // Boots (10% off at Nordstrom)

My Picks

IMG_5991.JPG

I would love to hear if you place a Shopbop order! I'm currently deciding between several pieces of jewelry because the prices are so fabulous! And I'm also thinking about ordering the solid black Spanx leggings because I love the faux leather Spanx leggings so much! Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful weekend!

The Prettiest Pjs

Last Christmas, my aunt Mary and my cousins gave Ebie and me the fabulous pajamas I'm sharing with you today. Pajamas are always something I have loved to buy. Some people collect sunglasses (my mom). I collect pajamas. Maybe it started with the silky Limited Too pajamas? Regardless, I'm sharing my current favorites with you today!

I have shared with you before that my sister in law and her family give me a pair of pajama pants from Anthropologie (or a gift card for them) every Christmas. Best gift ever! I have loved those for years and still love them. However, the brand of pjs I'm sharing with you today was new to me until I received my first pair last Christmas.

IMG_6028.jpg

I have this pearl colored pair of satin pants. And they come in 12 colors! Ebie has this blue set, and it comes in 9 colors. The colors are all beautiful and the fabric is SO incredibly soft. We both sized down because they do run big. I'm wearing size small, and Ebie is wearing size extra small.

IMG_6030.jpg

The best news is that my pajama pants are 25% off in several colors! My exact colored ones are still full price. However, the black, blush, dark silver, morning blue, and navy are all 25% off making them under $50! Click here to check them out! I love the blush ones.

IMG_6029.jpg

And if you prefer boxer shorts to pants, you can click here to check those out. Or click here to check out all of the options available by this brand. As far as I'm concerned, you can't go wrong with any pieces they make!

Also, one of my least favorite parts about blogging is taking pictures. I feel guilty asking people to take time out of their day to take my picture, and I'm not like other bloggers who are so good at rocking tons of poses. All I can do is smile. I have tried blogger faces/ poses, and I'm here to tell y'all that is not for me.

However, I truly enjoyed every minute of this little photoshoot. After dinner on my last night in Mobile, Ebie and I changed into our pajamas, and my mom snapped zillions of photos on her iPad while my dad hung out in a chair and my pups were being themselves. Bailey wanted to hang out for a little while and then she chose to go under the bed (as shown below). Rosie was her crazy, funny little self, causing us to laugh hysterically.

IMG_6032.jpg

When I was going through the pictures after my mom took them, I made the comment that one of the pictures looked staged. My dad said these photos were not staged. We were truly having the best time being together and laughing at the craziness of trying to get pups to cooperate for photos. I wish all picture taking was this fun!

One final thought- I always stay honest with y'all on Art Fashion Fun. Ebie truly wears her pj set exactly as pictured. I wore this $7 tee because I wanted to focus on the PJ Harlow brand, and I felt as if my typical sleep shirt distracts a little from that. But in all honesty, I actually wear one size fits all Disney sleepshirts every single night. My collection now consists of Tinkerbell, Minnie Mouse, Eeyore x2, and Cinderella.

IMG_6033.jpg

AND OH MY GOSH- I just discovered (while writing this post) that they can be bought online!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to retire my Tinkerbell one that I bought in high school, and I thought they could only be bought at Disney World! I have searched online for these things for years.

My mother in law picked up 2 of them for me (a Cinderella one from her and Eeyore one from my mom) when she was at Disney World last year, and now I can order my own online! Ok, I didn't mean to get into all of this, but I truly wear my Disney sleep shirts every night and am so excited about this discovery! Because I just know you want your own Disney sleep shirt, I will leave you a link to shop this stylish piece of clothing here- Cinderella sleep shirt.

Anyway, my Disney sleep shirts (and any other pj top) work perfectly with these pj pants because they are so fabulous and comfortable.

IMG_6027.jpg

Have you tried these pjs? We clearly love them. Thanks so much for reading! Have a wonderful day!

Outfit Details: Dressleopard & polka dot one // Shoes // Scarf // Earrings

Outfit #5

IMG_4160 2.jpg

Outfit #5- This dress comes in white, black, and red. It got all 5 star reviews and is the perfect dress for fall. The fabric is a nice sweater material, the sleeves are adorable, and it is SO soft! They call it a tunic, but I'm 5'5", and you can see that it is dress length on me. I highly suggest this one!

Outfit Details: Dress // Sandals // Bracelets

Outfit #6

IMG_5992 2.JPG

Outfit #6- This olive green tee is my favorite tee I own. It is currently marked down from $58 to under $28. My mom has the sky blue, and it is so pretty. It comes in 8 colors and is perfect to wear with leggings or skinny jeans because of how long it is. I sized up one size to make it even more loose and comfortable. I can't say enough positive things about it!

Outfit #7- This dress is selling out fast, so if you like it, snag it now! Especially since it is marked down from $168 to under $70! My mom, my sister, and I each own it. We clearly think it is a fabulous dress. The beading detail is so pretty! It runs large. I sized down to a small.

Outfit #8- I know I have posted about this dress several times, but it is so fabulous! It's so easy to style because it is so fun and loud that it just needs some simple accessories to go with it! It comes in several colors. My mom has blue, and I am also loving the new bright pink one! But it also comes in black if you are not as much of a color lover as I am!

Outfit #9

Outfit #9- This under $40 dress is the perfect dress to wear now and later into fall. It is a thicker material, has pockets, and the cutest ruffle sleeves! I get so many compliments every time I wear this dress!

Outfit Details: Dress // Similar Booties // Crossbody Bag

Outfit #10

IMG_5718.JPG

Outfit #10- This is one of my favorite dresses of all time. I think the flounce hem and ruffle sleeves are just simply adorable. Unfortunately the pink is no longer available. However, I have linked up the colors that are available. I personally love the periwinkle! Also, I waited until this bag went on sale and used my Christmas money from my grandparents a couple years ago to buy it! I know it will be something I use forever!

Outfit Details: Dress- Periwinkle, Tomato, Black // Purse

Which outfit is your favorite?! Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

This past weekend was a celebratory one. My sister and her boyfriend of 10 years got engaged! And I attended my 10 year high school reunion. So today I'm sharing 10 takeaways from my 10 year reunion!

1. I am so grateful my parents invested in my education. When you are in the middle of your school years, you get too wrapped up in your school work, friendships, sports, and all sorts of other things to even think about thanking your parents endlessly for working so hard to send you to an amazing school. So Mom and Dad, I realize I'm a little late with this, but THANK YOU for sending me to a school where I was able to get a fantastic education.

2. I may not talk to my friends from high school every single day or see them too many times a year, but that doesn't mean they are not my lifelong friends. We so easily pick up right where we left off every single time we get to see each other.

3. When people say time flies, they aren't kidding. How it has been 10 years since I graduated from high school blows my mind. I can't believe I'm now 28 and married. I feel like it was just yesterday we were standing behind the Seniors sign at the pep rally getting ready to run out and feeling like we were such a big deal because we were the oldest in the school. Makes me want to slow down and make sure I'm appreciating each stage of life. Also, if you want a link for the Minnie Mouse outfit below, message me. #kidding #homemade #fashion

4. Because my degrees are in teaching, I can speak to how much a simple thank you from a student and/or parent means. If there is a teacher you love (or your child loves), tell her how much you appreciate her! Teachers work harder than you will ever know.

5. Team sports are so good for you when you are growing up. You learn a whole lot more than just the sport itself. Especially when you have a coach like this precious lady.

6. Pictures are everything! I wish I had a scrapbook for every year of my life. But I am so grateful to have this blog now to document wonderful memories, like our reunion weekend.

7. So many people in our class are genuinely kind people. Someone I had not spoken to in 10 years reached out to give me a hug and say hello when I was passing by. If you are in our class, you could probably guess I'm talking about Jory! I strive to be a person as thoughtful and kind as Jory!

8. We could not name more than 2 high school couples that stayed together. I don't know exactly what this means, but I found it interesting.

9. Listening to the many accomplishments my classmates have achieved at the Athletic Hall of Fame banquet was astounding. For example, one fellow classmate below is currently a professional MMA fighter ranked #18 lightweight in North America. Umm, whoa! I am beyond honored and thankful to be a part of this group.

10. We may be 10 years older, but the SPS class of 2007 is still as fun and full of spirit as we were 10 years ago. Already counting down until the next reunion! Let's go Mobile!!!
