Three Things Thursday

Back today with my second Three Things Thursday post. I am sharing 3 unrelated things that I think you should know about! And number 3- y'all, I couldn't be any more excited or grateful!

1. Glamorous Wash Laundry Detergent- Diva

Ok y'all, I am well aware the price point of this stuff is insane for laundry detergent. However, hear me out. I got mine as a birthday present from my mom, and it lasted me an entire year. I throw one Tide pod into the washing machine and a tiny little splash of this laundry detergent, and the smell is simply AMAZING. You are guaranteed to have at least 3 people a day ask you what perfume or cologne you are wearing if you wash your clothes with this. The long lasting, soothing aroma is not comparable to any other laundry detergent.

My mom got me the gallon, but if you want to test it out for yourself, then you could try this little baby 4 ounce sample for under $10 or this 16 ounce bottle for under $20. As always, I'm not making money by suggesting this product. I truly love it!

2. Palmetto Cheese

I have never liked pimento cheese until I discovered this stuff. I don't like mayonnaise (unless a little bit is mixed into things like chicken salad), and I just never really cared to try pimento cheese until my family had this kind at our house. I tried it and have loved it ever since.

I still don't love other types of pimento cheese because they seem too sweet or too mayonnaisey, but this brand is delicious. You can usually find it at Walmart, Kroger, and Costco. Parker didn't like pimento cheese before we were introduced to this stuff either. It is now our go to appetizer or snack. I even brought it to work one day when I was teaching in Fayetteville and several people asked me for the recipe (because obviously I put it in a cute bowl and acted like it was homemade). :)

The jalapeño kind is our favorite. We like the plain kind too and haven't ever tried bacon. If you're trying to watch your carbs, you can eat it with carrots. Or if you don't really care much about that, then you can eat it with Wheat Thins or any other cracker.

3. The BEST Oil Change Experience

Ok y'all, I had something else for number 3, but I had to change it after the best oil change experience of my life yesterday. It started out a little rocky. I took my car to Walmart for a simple oil change. The guy told me they could not use the oil I asked them to use (that the Mobile dealership suggested) because there was something on my car that said they needed to use a different type. Then they told me they couldn't rotate my tires because they were rotting. At this point, I was terrified and said ok thank you, I will take it elsewhere.

So I drove out to the Acura dealership in Memphis. I had already called and they told me I didn't need an appointment for an oil change and to just come on in when it was convenient for me. I arrive and a man asks what he can help me with. I tell him I need an oil change and my tires rotated. He asks me a couple questions and gets someone started on my car while he takes me on a tour of the place. There was a quiet room where the news was on. There was a louder, fun room where they played movies. And then there was the free snacks and drinks room.

Guess where I hung out! :) Y'all, have you ever been to a car dealership that had unlimited complimentary drinks, snacks, and even hot dogs? You heard me right- HOT DOGS! Plus, they had a fruit bowl because #balance. So the guy comes back and brings me my car inspection and talks me through what's going on with my car. Nothing too interesting. My tires are in fact not rotting and are completely fine. He used the oil I was told by the Mobile dealership to use. And the only thing that didn't pass the inspection was my windshield wipers, which would be less than $20 to fix.

And as if I couldn't say enough positive things about this place, the guy hands me a coupon and says my oil change is free since it was my first time there. So that meant all I had to pay for was my tire rotation and new windshield wiper blades. I wanted to hug the guy. I always get excited about deals, but this was a whole new level of excitement(!!!!!!!!!!)! I mean how often do you get phenomenal discounts on things like oil changes?!

They also washed the inside and outside of my car for free and gave me a coupon for brake service, which I will need in the near future. I kept wondering what the catch was. They told me they are really dependent on customer surveys. I said you will be getting all 100+s from me! Plus a fabulous review on Art Fashion Fun. Goodness knows that is super relevant and important for them. Totally kidding. But seriously, have you ever had an exciting oil change? It was truly an amazing experience that made my day!

(BTW- I wrote the whole section on my oil change experience while it was happening, which may be why there was a little bit of excessive excitement. Thank goodness for the free Wifi that allowed me to write alllllll the details for you and capture my full level of excitement while I was in the moment. I know you wanted to hear every last detail. #imsorry #thankyouforreading)

Too long? Too much? I'm sorry I can't contain my excitement! Let me know if you try numbers 1 or 2, and also please let me know if you have had a similar oil change experience. I still feel like it was too good to be true! Thanks so much for reading!

Wednesday Wishlist: Madewell Edition

Parker rediscovered a favorite hobby of his recently- baseball cards. Growing up with a sister, we enjoyed things like Polly Pockets, American Girl dolls, Barbies, cute erasers, gel pens, all things Hello Kitty, Furbies, Limited Too silky pajamas, etc. I never really knew anything about baseball cards.

I still don't know anything about baseball cards. However, I do know that there is a baseball card store in Germantown half a mile from The Shops of Saddle Creek, which is a shopping center with all of my very favorite stores. Soooo, we have been there at least once a week for the past three weeks. Parker goes to the baseball card store. I go shopping. Win-win! I went to Madewell the last time I was there, so today I have a Madewell wishlist for you. You can click on all words in Italics to be taken directly to the site.

Striped Tie Sleeve Tee-  Found this in the sale room, and I love it! It is the most comfortable material. The tie sleeves are so cute too. I only allowed myself to get one item, so I picked the one I loved most, but I really love this shirt too!

Striped Cold-Shoulder Dress- This dress is on sale too! It is marked down from $138 to $69.99. They also have it in this pretty rose color for $59.99. I don't typically like cold shoulder dresses on me, but I thought this one was cute! Love the neutral colors and bell sleeves.

Embroidered Sunview Dress- Y'all! I NEED this dress. It was a little out of my price range, but I will for sure be watching it and scooping it up when it goes on sale. I think my love of shift dresses is evident, and this one is so light and fun and swingy. Perfect for the hot temperatures of summer. Plus, the bright embroidery and tassels are so fun!

Eyelet Shift Dress- I thought this was a really pretty dress when I picked it up, but it's not my favorite on me. Love the eyelet, the neckline, and the fact that it is lined. Do not love how it makes me feel like a second grader. I think the cinched sleeves made me feel like it was a dress for a little girl.

Bell-Sleeve Shirtdress- I first picked this up because I loved the sleeves. When I tried it on, I sort of thought I looked like I was in a straight jacket.  : /

Striped Melody Off-the-Shoulder Dress- The last thing I tried on is the one thing I bought. I know, I know- another off the shoulder dress. I just can't get enough of them! I don't have one like this. It's just so easy and comfortable. Easy to dress up or dress down.

I found a few other items online that I didn't see in the store. I want to add them to my wishlist, so I can go back and check them out when (hopefully) they have a Fourth of July sale soon. Click on the following links if you would like to check them out. There's this bright yellow gingham tunic dress, this striped dress that is almost sold out, this long sleeve tunic dress that is on sale for $59.99, and this huge beach towel blanket. What do y'all think? Thanks so much for reading!

15 Fun Summer Items for Under $25

With the official first day of summer upon us, I decided to write this little summery post. Plus, I'm having withdrawals from the beach, so it was fun to start looking at items in preparation for our upcoming Fourth of July beach trip. An added bonus is that all of the items I have rounded up are under $25. Click on words in Italics to be taken directly to site.

1. Beach Towel Clips- I added these to the list because we are in serious need of them. Every time we go to the pool, Parker cannot handle his towel blowing over his head while we are in our chairs. I bet the beach is even windier. I can't really picture him loving these Nemo ones, but I sure do! And they will serve the purpose of clipping his towel to his chair and holding it in place.

2. Round Beach Towel- I love big, huge beach towels, and round beach towels are all the rage this summer! Isn't this flamingo one cute?!

3. Margarita Pool Float- If you go to the pool/ beach and do not get a picture on an enormous pool float, did you actually even go? (Side note- kidding, I don't own one of these, but I want to!)

4. Cactus Inflatable Ring Toss- My family loves playing games on the beach. This one looks super cute and fun!

5. Floppy HatI have this hat and can't wait to wear it soon! Love how neutral the colors are, so it will go with pretty much everything.

6. Super Goop Fusion Lip Balm- My mom stocked me up on Super Goop products. I love them all, especially this lip balm with sunscreen. Sunburned lips are the worst.

7. Bright Blue Beach Bag- This is such a great price for such a nice, huge beach bag!

8. Slide Sandals with a Bow- JUST spotted these, and oh my goodness- I need them NOW. For my beach trip and every day.

9. Cocktail Drinkware for the Beach- I got the beer/ cup holders for my fam a couple years ago for Christmas. I just discovered these wine holders for the beach and think we're going to need them now! Just stick them down into the sand, and your drink is sturdy!

10. Tassel Trim Dress- $15! Enough said.

11. Bow Tie Gingham Dress- Gingham, fluted sleeves, bows, $18. Oh my goodness!

12. Ruffled Bikini Top- This bikini top looks identical to this one at Anthropologie for a fraction of the price!

13. Swim Skirt- I have been loving swim skirts the past couple years, and this one looks pretty fab!

14. Animal Print Bikini Top- Does anyone else love animal print?

15. Animal Print Bikini Bottoms- I obviously do!

Is there anything I'm missing? I did find several other items that were either over $25 or did not fit in my collage, but I'm pretty excited about the deals I did find! I'm going to need numbers 1-4 and 7-15. I only excluded number 5 and 6 because I already own them. Help! I love shopping and finding good deals way too much! Thanks so much for reading. Happy summer!

Loving Lately: OTS Dresses

It's no secret that I am loving the OTS, or off the shoulder, trend! I have a full post dedicated to 8 ways I styled OTS looks here. Today, I am showing you my 4 newest OTS dresses that I love, and the fabulous news is that they are all on sale! You can click on any words you see in Italics to be taken directly to the site.

Corey Lynn Calter Bayside Off-The-Shoulder Dress- This dress is my favorite item on today's post. And possibly my favorite dress of summer. The material, side pockets, and ruffle sleeves are some things I love about it. Plus, the off the shoulder part stays in place. It does run big- I am wearing a small, which is very rare for me. I personally love the neon lime color, but I found it in another color online here. All full-price dresses and jumpsuits at Anthropologie are 20% off right now. If you want it, grab it while it's on sale!

Maella Off-The-Shoulder Tunic Dress- I have had this dress in my cart for a long, long time. The moss colored one was in my cart though. When I saw it in this bright poppy red color, I was sold. Plus, I love the side pockets and cotton-gauze material. It does not wrinkle easily. I paired it with some Michael Kors wedges and old Anthropologie earrings for a fun summer date night look. For size reference, I am wearing a medium. With the 20% off sale, this dress is currently marked down to under $100!

Off-the-Shoulder Shift Dress (in Lost at Sea Navy)- Y'all this dress has been marked down to $25! So clearly I had to get two. It is just a classic off the shoulder dress with tie sleeves. For size reference, I'm wearing a medium.

Off-the-Shoulder Shift Dress (in Hot Tamale)- If you read my Old Navy Finds post from a  couple weeks ago, you may remember this dress. It is the same dress as the navy one above, but this color is almost sold out. They only have XXL left. It also comes in black, which is still available in XS, S, M, and L. This one is also $25. If you like it, hurry and get it before it sells out!

What do you think about the OTS trend? I feel pretty certain you can tell how I feel about it. I hope it never ends! Thanks so much for reading!

Wednesday Wishlist: J.Crew Edition

This past weekend, I went back to the Shops of Saddle Creek in Germantown. Going to the 20% off sale at Anthropologie was a must, and then I had to swing by J.Crew too. I could have hit a lot more places, but has anyone else shopped with their husband or boyfriend? Parker found a sofa and Wifi, but I was still in a serious hurry, as evidenced by my hair in the photos below.

After I shared my Anthropologie Wishlist last Wednesday, their 20% off sale started Friday (insert rolling eyes emoji because I had already bought two full price dresses). So, I learned my lesson and wasn't trying to buy anything full price at J.Crew. I did buy one thing on this wishlist because it was already on sale plus an additional 30% off. And I found several other things that I will purchase once they go on sale.

If you see anything you like that is already on sale (like the 1 item I bought), you can use code SALESTYLE to get an additional 40% off any sale styles through tomorrow at midnight. Click on words in Italics to be taken directly to the site.

My Wishlist

Off-the-Shoulder Beach Dress with Rainbow Stripes- I've had my eye on this for a while. I think it could be a cute beach coverup or regular dress. Love the ties on the sleeves.

Smocked Off-the-Shoulder Gingham Beach Dress- I have seen this everywhere lately and was excited to try it on for myself. Love the gingham print, the off the shoulder style, and the smocked top part (especially after loving all of the smocked girl clothing in yesterday's post).

Garment-dyed Pocket T-shirt Dress- This is just a simple t-shirt dress, but y'all, this thing is so comfortable. I want it in all three colors! It is so easy to just throw on and go.

Ruffle Top in Ratti Painted Pineapple- This top is currently one of J.Crew's best-sellers. It can be worn on or off the shoulders. If you are a ruffle and pineapple lover, this top would be perfect for you!

Linen Flutter-sleeve T-shirt- I have talked about my love for flutter sleeves before, and this is a pretty great flutter sleeve shirt. I personally love this bright river color best, but it comes in 5 other colors too. This is such a good basic that can be tucked in, untucked, or front-tucked, depending on the shorts you choose to wear with it.

Linen Ruffle Skirt- Skirts like this are very on trend right now. However, looking at my own reflection in the mirror with this skirt on hurt my eyeballs. I didn't even capture a photo in it. There is no need to make you look at that awful sight. If they are good for your body type, then go for it! I think they're super cute. However, this is one trend my body type and I are going to have to pass on.

Ruffled Short- These were my very favorite thing I tried on. I loved them so much that they were the one item on today's post that I bought. The fact that they were the only item I tried on that was on sale helped too. On sale, plus an additional 30% off. I saw them online a while back, but I thought they looked too short. I sized up one size and feel totally comfortable in them. Love the fit, color, and of course ruffle detailing!

What do you think? See anything you love? Or hate? I'll be patiently awaiting the next sale to order the t-shirt dress and flutter sleeve t-shirt. Hmmm, looks like the common theme here is that I am all about comfort! Thanks so much for reading!

How to Make Your Southern Babies and Toddlers Look Like They Stepped Out of a Boutique Without Paying Boutique Prices!

I am so excited to have my first guest blogger on Art Fashion Fun today! Sarah Johnson will be taking over and teaching us alllllll about how to make your southern babies and toddlers look like they stepped out of a boutique without paying boutique prices. Considering I do not have a child, this is not my area of expertise. However, Sarah has two adorable baby girls that are 14 months and 4 years old. They are constantly dressed to perfection, and Sarah knows the way to make this happen on a budget.  She is sharing the most helpful info today that makes me want to go buy baby/toddler things.

A little background info- Sarah and I basically lived parallel lives, 10 years apart. She was a Tridelt at the University of Alabama, lived in a house on 1525 Bryant Drive, lived in the DDD house, and then became a teacher in Huntsville. Ten years after Sarah did all of these things, I followed suit. We ended up meeting each other when we were teaching at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School in Huntsville, Alabama. She is actually the reason Parker and I met in Huntsville! We were fast friends and have kept in touch since I moved away in 2014. She has the best taste when it comes to little girls' clothing, and I feel certain you will agree with me when you see the photos below. I will let Sarah take it from here!

How to Get a Deal

Both sweaters bought from Etsy for around $95 total; they would be close to $100 apiece at other online places

Both sweaters bought from Etsy for around $95 total; they would be close to $100 apiece at other online places

  •  Shop online sales during holidays (ex: buy summer/fall clothes for the next year when they are highly discounted at the end of fall)
  • Join Facebook resale groups (ex: Smocking Hot Mamas, Smocked Boutique Resale, Smocks Rock). People either sell these items with tags still on or in very good condition. Lingo on these sites: TTS- true to size, EUC- excellent used condition, VGUC- very good used condition, GUC-good used condition
  • Join a "closet mom" group on Facebook. These moms buy new clothes and sell all the time (before their kids even wear the items), and they will be highly discounted. You can find these moms on the Resale sites.
  • Buy summer/winter clothes at your local boutiques when highly discounted at the end of season (ex: buy Christmas pjs and outfits after Christmas in a size up for the next year; if they don't fit the next year, then sell them)
  • Follow Instagram accounts and join Facebook groups like Smockingbird, Cecil and Lou, Posh Pickle, Sweet Baby Tutu, Smocked Auctions (can earn points when you buy from them), Smocked Overtocks (sell Shrimp and Grits clothes at a discount)
  • If you love The Beaufort Bonnet Company, Matilda Jane, or other brands that are a little more expensive, buy from other moms (they hold up so well), host a show and get credit, or find someone on Etsy that makes bonnets just like TBBC -Sew You Monograms on Etsy makes bonnets exactly like TBBC and for half the price. Also, on Facebook there are pages dedicated to reselling these brands only. Join them! Matilda Jane Resale, TBBC Resale, Shrimp and Grits Resale, and so on...
  • Buy Blanks!!! There are many different Blanks companies, like Blanks Boutique and A&E Blanks. They have cute, good quality clothes that come blank. They are a good price and you can take them to a monogrammer to make them cute! I always stock up on Blanks Boutique goodies right before summer time for gingham bikinis, matching cover ups, shirts, and dresses for my girls. They average around $8 an item. I take them to my monogram lady and she puts their names on them. Or she will put cute little summer items, like watermelons and sailboats, on the clothes and then I have 5-6 outfits for each girl for the summer. Best of all, I don't care if they get messed up because they were cheap. **
  • Buy garanimals shirts from Walmart (and monogram) and use Blanks shorts or bloomers from other outfits to pair with. So cute!
  • Buy rash guards from Walmart, have monogrammed to match the bottoms of a Blanks bikini or any bikini - and you have another cute swim suit!

**I like Blanks Boutique the best because they ship really fast. They are based out of Alabama. And they come with swatches if you order shirts and shorts, so your monogrammer can have material to appliqué.

>Be Mine dresses bought new from a Facebook resale group

>The Beaufort Bonnet Company jumper bought from a Closet Mom on Facebook for $22 ($70 originally) with Shrimp and Grits blouse and pink saddle oxfords

>Dresses bought from Smockingbird

>Outfit bought from Posh Pickle on Instagram

>Dress by Matilda Jane- buy one and it will last two seasons

>Bonnets identical to The Beaufort Bonnet Company bought from a local lady in Huntsville- Erin Broom with Broom Stitch- for a fraction of the price of TBBC.

>Mix and match tops and bottoms:

>Blanks Coverups and Walmart Rash Guards:

Baby Deals and Fave Brands

  • I absolutely LOVE Kissy Kissy (runs pretty TTS) on a baby! Their converter gowns are the best and worth the money. Both of my girls lived in KK for the first 6 months of their lives. There is a KK resale page on Facebook or just buy them at your local boutique. These are worth the money. Register for them bc people love giving KK as baby gifts and then you don't have to buy! (1st group of photos below)
  • Buy Blanks Boutique gowns and bubbles and have them monogrammed! So so comfy, great for daycare, bumming around the house, or really anywhere. (2nd group of photos below)
  • Angel Dear is a sweet brand of clothes and blankets/lovies. They sell on Zulilly so that's a great place to stock up on a lot of items.
  • Silkberry is similar to Kissy Kissy, very soft and sweet. I didn't personally own many, but people rave about this brand.
  • Carters (runs a size small) always has the best PJs! I still buy the footed pjs for my 4 year old. They also sell at Costco and Sam's, so those are great places to stock up on Carters PJs.
  • Cat and Jack (at Target)

>Kissy Kissy:

>Blanks Boutique:

  • Carriage Boutiques
  • Remember Nguyen
  • Shrimp and Grits
  • Vive La Fete
  • Zucchini
  • Petit Bebe
  • Anavini

Must Haves

  • Jeffries Tights for winter (from baby to 4 years old)- amazing to wear under dresses and tops! Can buy on Amazon or buy when your local boutique has a sale.

>Jeffries Tights

>Widgeon Coats (Also, monogrammed hat in second photo is from The Beaufort Bonnet Company. It has lasted several years, and I highly recommend it.)

Shoes

  • Freshly Picked moccasins for baby to walker or bobux are good "crib shoes" too for non- walkers. I like a barefoot baby the best though!! (Until they can walk)
  • Keds(t-strap)! Can't beat Keds, especially for toddlers to 4 year olds and beyond in daycare/school
  • L'amour and Footmates for dressier shoes (double t-strap- so cute)
  • Old Soles
  • San Suns (the best summer sandals)
  • Bobux Crib Shoe
  • Saddle Oxfords

  • Keens (water shoes)

>Pink moccasins from Zulily

Huge thanks to Sarah for her partnership on this post! I am always looking for deals, and I am so grateful Sarah has taught me her ways before I have any kids of my own. Hope this helps any of you mamas, soon-to-be mamas, baby shower shoppers, or grandmothers!

Father's Day Gift Guide

Father's Day is this coming Sunday. If I were making this gift guide for my dad specifically, it would be completely blank, aside from maybe pictures of our family being all together. Oh, and it would include the yearly coupon for "no texting and driving." Sadly, we will not be all together this year to celebrate, but I will renew my yearly promise to not text and drive. Below, you will find some suggestions of gifts you can get for your favorite dad! (Click on words in Italics to go directly to the site.)

1. Peter Millar Geneva Packable Melange Windbreaker- I learned about Peter Millar recently through one of Parker's friends. You cannot go wrong with anything on this website. I bought Parker a few things during their big sale last year, and he has loved all of them. This windbreaker reminded me of something my dad would throw on, so I chose it for the gift guide.

2. UNTUCKit Button Down Collar Shirt- Have a dad that does not like to tuck his shirt in? That is not the case for me. My dad's shirt is always tucked in. However, my husband recently told me that tucking in his shirt is not his style. If your dad doesn't like tucking his shirt in, UNTUCKit is the place to shop. They focus on quality above all, a contoured hemline to add a level of sophistication to your casual look, a perfect length (to the middle of the zipper with pockets partially exposed), and a signature sail, which is a reminder that the shirt is best worn untucked. Thanks to my sister-in-law Allyson for teaching me about this brand!

3. Vineyard Vines Printed Silk Tie- Vineyard Vines is such a great place to find a tie that has a little more meaning for your dad. I picked this golf one for my dad. There are so many other options you can choose from!

4. YETI Rambler 30 oz Tumbler- If your dad doesn't have one of these, it's a great cup for keeping drinks really hot or really cold for long periods of time.

5. Yumi Cups YETI Handle- I hadn't seen one of these until Parker's dad showed us his about a month ago. He said Allyson gave it to him. It makes it really easy to hold the Yeti tumbler and keeps your hand from getting cold or hot!

6. Sally Wilson Art- This might not be your typical Father's Day gift. However, my dad has paintings similar to this in his office, and they make it a much better looking place!

7. The Big Bobber Floating Cooler- I got this for my dad for Father's Day a few years ago. It is a classic. Such a fabulous idea because when floating in the pool, who wants to get out to grab another beer? This floating ice chest eliminates that problem! Plus, it's from Bed Bath & Beyond- you can always find a 20% off coupon to use there.

8. John Grisham Book- John Grisham books are always my dad's favorites. He may or may not be getting the newest one- Camino Island- for a Father's Day gift.

9. Photobook- I made my parents and Parker's parents both one of these for Christmas after we got our wedding photos back. I used Shutterfly, but as of today, Shutterfly cannot guarantee delivery of your photobook before Father's Day. However, Walgreens can! They even offer same day pickup! This is by far the most thoughtful item on this gift guide.

10. Tuskwear Classic Hat from McCoy Outdoors- If your dad is a Bama fan, I bet he would love one of these hats. :)

Did anyone else want to be just like their dad when they were growing up? Like, even get him to teach them how to shave their whiskers, so they could be just like him? I know two girls who looked up to their dad when they were little, today, and every day. :) Thanks so much for reading! I hope you find something special for a fabulous father!
