My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks + Weekly Recap

My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

Ok y'all, today's a big day! If you follow any fashion bloggers, then you are well aware of all the Nordstrom Anniversary sale details. However, I am one of the very few lowly bloggers that does not have a Nordstrom credit card, so I will just now be getting access to the sale today with the rest of the public.

If you have looked at their website, it can be pretty overwhelming because there are SO many pieces included in this sale. However, after a week of following lots of Nordstrom cardholders who got early access to the sale, I feel fully equipped to share lots of the best items with you! And I do mean lots.

This is a time when people stock up on Fall items and investment pieces because they are so highly discounted. The items will return to their regular prices as soon as the sale ends. The last day of the sale is August 6, so prices will go back up August 7.

Also, it says Early Access on the photos below because I wrote this post before the sale went live to the public. Everyone has access to it now! We just have to hope the things that we want are still in stock. Or maybe hope some items are out of stock, so we don't spend all our money on this sale. It is insane! I've entered countless giveaways (as my sister knows because she is the lucky one who gets tagged hourly) to win Nordstrom gift cards, but I haven't won just yet. Fingers crossed one of these days I will win and have free money to put towards these fabulous items!

Most items below have direct links underneath the pictures. Just click on the words in Italics, and they should take you directly to that item on Nordstrom's website (unless the item is now sold out). Or you can click here to go to the Nordstrom website and explore things for yourself! Warning- it is overwhelming and there are so many things you will want. :)

Three Things Thursday

Back today with my third post in the Three Things Thursday series. I am sharing 3 unrelated things that I think you should know about! You can click on the words in Italics to be taken directly to the sites.

1. Sugar Kiss Melon

When this stuff comes in season, I cannot get enough of it. You need to get one, and possibly even more than one. I got my first one Sunday, and it was gone by Tuesday. My mom accidentally bought sugar kiss melon last summer, thinking it was cantaloupe. This accident taught us about the most delicious fruit.

Sugar kiss melons appear almost identical to cantaloupe. However, the texture and taste are much better, in my opinion. I like cantaloupe too, but sugar kiss melons are sweeter and much tastier. They have a light, crisp texture that is so refreshing. My mom bought hers from Publix. However, I was so happy when I was able to find them at Walmart because we don't have a Publix in Southaven.

The first picture above shows that I found them in a basket with a label that says Canary Melons. I think it was mislabeled because when I googled canary melons, they are not the same thing as sugar kiss melons. However, I looked at the tag on the actual fruit, and it said Sugar Kiss Melon. So check the tag to make sure you are getting the right thing. The melon to the left of the sugar kiss melon is called honey kiss melon, and it is really similar and delicious too! It was $4 more than the sugar kiss melon, so I stuck with the less expensive option this time- you're welcome Parker. :)

2. Blistex Lip Medex

When my friends came over to my house when I was younger, they found it humorous/ interesting/ maybe slightly crazy that we have zillions of the same product. Whether it was some type of granola bar, school supply, drink that we really liked, or whatever... when we really like something, we tend to stock up on it. That is the case for this chapstick.

I learned about it through a friend in high school, and I have not found a better chapstick since then. My mom will put it in my Christmas stocking, my Easter basket, or whatever occasion because I love it so much. I am sort of an organization freak (and yes, it kills me that I didn't have one more to stick in that hole on the bottom row), but it gives you a better view of just how many I have/ how much I like it.

It is the most moisturizing chapstick on the market. The only con is that it doesn't have sunscreen in it, so I do have to use a different chapstick when I am out in the sun. However, I have it located in my tote, my crossbody, my car, and in just about every single room of my house. They sell it at CVS and Walgreens. I highly suggest picking some up next time you're there if you want the most moisturizing chapstick.

3. Plant Self-Watering System

Ok, so these things are new to me. I do not personally own any, but my mom shared this idea with me and I wanted to share it with you because it is such a neat concept. The set I have linked includes 4 plant spikes that hold water bottles or wine bottles (my mom tried both and said water bottles work better than wine bottles). The purpose of this product is to keep your plants from drying out. If you are going out of town or just don't feel like having to water your plants so often, this product is for you.

How it works- water your plants thoroughly, soak the plant spikes in water, fill recycled water bottles with water, stick the plant spikes (with water bottles in them) into the soil of your plants, and your plants will stay wet and cared for! This way you don't have to water your plants on a daily basis. And you will not come back from vacation to dead plants!

Maybe if I had invested in these, every plant I have ever owned wouldn't have died. I can't keep a plant alive to save my life, but goodness knows I will try again one day and you better believe I will be paying $13.99 for these plant spikes and hope they are the magical cure for my inability to keep a plant alive!

Have you tried any of these things? What do you think? Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

Wednesday Wishlist: Loft Edition

It's been a while since I posted my last Wednesday Wishlist, so I'm excited to share this one today! I had not been to Loft in years and decided to stop in Saturday. They just so happened to be having a 40% off the entire store sale. And they are currently offering an additional 50% off sale items. It will be taken off your items as soon as you add them to your cart! There are some seriously great items for seriously great prices!

I bought 3 of the items that I am sharing today, but I wanted a lot more. I will definitely be checking out Loft more frequently. Click on the words in Italics to be taken directly to the site.

Fiesta Off the Shoulder Top- Starting off this wishlist with one of my very favorite things I tried on. They were running low on sizes in the store, and they didn't have my size in this top, but I think it is SO cute. From the sleeves to the embroidery to the smocked off the shoulder neckline and colors, I love it all!

Playa Off the Shoulder Top- Now I'll move on to something I did not like. :) I could tell it was supposed to be an off the shoulder top, but the tasseled tie would not stay in the center. It was always off to one side and the sleeves did not look right when the neckline was pulled off the shoulder. I thought it could be a festive Fourth of July top, but it clearly was not working for me.

Lacey Ruffle Yoke Shell- They didn't have this shirt in my size (the arm holes were way too big in this size unfortunately), but I think it is so cute. I love the bright blue color, lace frame, and ruffles. However, I would definitely have to front tuck this top with these shorts or wear it with different bottoms because the top of these shorts stuck out and made me look sort of pregnant. This would be a cute top for ladies who are pregnant. However, I am not. It is just the top of my shorts sticking out.

Striped Puff Sleeve Dress- I tried this on because I am always drawn to fun sleeves. When I saw it on, I immediately decided it was a no go. The sleeves did not look the way I was expecting them to. I actually love the fit of the dress and the navy and white stripes, but the sleeves were not a good look on me.

Ruffle Flounce Dress- I absolutely adore this dress. They only had an XS and a L in the store, so obviously I tried on the large and it was way too big and long, but I'm seriously considering ordering it online. It has been marked down from $89.50 to $39.50, and I love it! If you click on the link, you can see how the model is actually wearing the correct size, and it is so cute. I love the flutter sleeves and the ruffle flounce hem. It reminds me of a Camilyn Beth dress for a fraction of the price.

Cropped Skinny Chinos- These are the ultimate teacher pants. I love how they fit throughout the legs, but I could tell I would be pulling them up all day long if I bought them because they were too big in the waist. They're such a pretty coral color though!

Textured Pocket Open Cardigan- This material was a little too thick for me to be buying at the moment, but I do really like the look and length of this whisper white cardigan.

Flutter Shoulder Shell- This top clearly needs to be steamed, but I had to get it. It is such a great drapey white top with the cutest detail- flutter shoulder sleeves! So easy to throw on now and into the fall with a cardigan.

Vintage Soft Flutter Tee- Do you think I love flutter sleeves? The sleeves and pale mint heather color drew me in, but the material sealed the deal. This top is SO soft. I am considering getting the gray one too.

Spacedye Open Cardigan- I have been on the lookout for a new cardigan lately. I obviously don't currently need one with these 90+ degree days, but it's always freezing inside after you are sweltering outside... I couldn't justify spending over $100 on the Free People one I have had my eye on, so I got this one. And I love it! I can wear it inside for now and more often in the fall!

What do y'all think about Loft? I typically associate it with workwear, but they actually have items for all occasions. I clearly really liked it and will be back again when they have another great sale! Thanks so much for reading!

Old Navy Tees

Today I'm rounding up the cutest basic tees from Old Navy. They are actually very good quality for such amazing prices! Click on the words in Italics to be taken directly to the site.

1. EveryWear Slub-Knit Tee- I bought this one in the fuchsia neon color that I'm wearing in the picture, and I also got it in Just Chill, which is a pretty light blue. I chose to leave it untucked, but it also looks cute front-tucked. My sister's birthday is coming up, so I also grabbed a few colors for her! You can never have too many basic tees in pretty colors.

2. Luxe Curved-Hem V-Neck Tee- I have posted about this tee before, and I cannot overstate how soft it is! Old Navy describes these tees as "softer than the rest, with a draped, flawless fit." They're not kidding. It is so soft, and I love the comfortable draped fit! Instead of having a totally draped fit, I tucked this tee into my shorts because they have a looser fit as well.

3. Boyfriend Pocket Tee- This is my newest style, and I love it! Turquoise is my favorite color, so obviously I love the color of this tee. I also love the oversized fit. I styled it here with white shorts, but I think it would be cute with white jeans too. It is a little longer than the other ones, so I front-tucked it into my shorts and found that to be more flattering than  having the whole tee hanging out. I do like a looser fitting tee with white jeans though, so I would probably leave it all untucked with jeans.

Do y'all have any good tees that you love? I have seen lots of people talking about this Lush Tee that is included in Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale, but I don't even know if I would like it as much as I love these Old Navy tees! Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

Dress: Anthropologie

The white dress I posted yesterday and this dress I'm posting today are 2 of my 3 favorite dresses I have bought this summer. And lucky for you, they just marked this dress down yesterday! Plus, it is an additional 30% off. It was $158 and is now $69.97 (this price will appear once you move it to your cart). Y'all, that is an amazing deal for a dress that is such nice quality!

I love the pretty eyelet, and of course the flutter sleeves are my very favorite part. It comes with a slip, so you don't have to worry about it being see through. Another great perk is that it is machine washable! That is pretty rare for nice dresses, like this one.

It is currently in stock in sizes 0-14 in peach and black. I obviously have the peach, but you can't go wrong with either option. For size reference, I'm wearing a size 6. However, now that I've worn it twice, I realize I should have gone with a 4, which is not common for  me. This dress runs large, so size down.

I think you can dress it up or down. I have worn it to a friend's rehearsal dinner and out to dinner. So I think you could make it look dressy or more casual, depending on what you wear with it.

That's it for this week! Have a wonderful weekend!

What's in my Sale Cart at Nordstrom

The huge Anniversary Sale at Nordstrom starts on July 21 and lasts through August 6. Unless you are a Nordstrom cardholder- then you will get early access starting July 13. This sale is different from most because they are discounting brand new items. So new fall items will be discounted during the sale and then go back to full price on August 7.

That is definitely something to look forward to. However, today I am sharing the sale items that are currently in my cart. And I'm sharing items I already own that have been marked down, so you can score them at amazing prices if you like them. Spring and summer clothes will always be my favorite. And I love them even more when I get fabulous deals on them. Everything on today's post is between 33% and 50% off. Nothing is over $83! And most things are under $40.

In all honestly, up until very recently, I was intimidated by Nordstrom. This was mostly due to my lack of knowledge about it. There is not an actual Nordstrom store in Alabama, Arkansas, or Mississippi. However, after several purchases online, I am happy to say I am no longer intimidated. Yes, they do carry merchandise that is way over my budget. However, they also carry really affordable items. Some other perks include free shipping, free returns, and excellent customer service.

Check out my picks below, and PLEASE help me narrow down the items in my cart. I know this list is excessive, but there are just so many amazing deals! I think my favorites are the first tie sleeve top, the yellow off the shoulder dress, the turquoise coverup, the peplum sweatshirt, and the ivory cardigan. Edited- Make sure you shop fast because the turquoise coverup is now sold out in my size. :( At least they have the same style coverup in other colors.
