Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018

Hey Y'all! I am so sorry I have been so MIA over here on the blog. February through June have been crazy busy and full of so much travel. And fun too! We're actually leaving again Thursday to go to the beach for the Fourth of July, but then we will be home for the rest of July. Thank goodness because there is lots of blogging that needs to be done! I have some fun posts in the works, but today I am going to tell you all about Nordstrom's biggest sale of the year!

IMG-9749.JPG

What is it?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is Nordstrom's biggest sale that happens once a year during the summer. It is so different from other sales because the items included are brand new fall items. Most typical sales include items that are from the previous season and have been seen over and over again. The N Sale, which it's frequently called, includes brand new fall merchandise that is up to 50% off!

Down south, it is obviously still very hot during the summer months (and into the fall months), but this is the best time to stock up on fall and winter items because they will be so highly discounted!

When is it?

-July 12, 12:01 AM Pacific: Early Access available to all Nordstrom cardholders

-July 20, 12:01 AM Pacific: The Nordstrom sale is open to everyone

-August 5, 11:59 PM Pacific: The Nordstrom sale ends and items return to their normal prices

How do I get Early Access?

You have to be a Nordstrom credit card holder to get early access. I did not have a Nordstrom card during the sale last year, which means I had to wait for public access to begin a full week after early access. Because of the enormity of this sale, things sell out FAST, like faster than any other sale I've ever seen. This made the full week I had to wait seem like an eternity!

In all honesty, until yesterday, I had one Visa credit card and zero credit cards from any store or anywhere else. After last year, I knew I had to get a Nordstrom credit card for the sole purpose of getting Early Access to this year's N Sale. So, I made it happen yesterday, and I now have two credit cards- Visa and Nordstrom. And this year, I will not have to psychotically stalk that Free People top I am dying for or that pair of Spanx leggings that I must have for fall. Because I have a Nordstrom credit card, I will get to snag my favorite things during early access before they all sell out!

You can click here to apply for a Nordstrom credit card. It is really simple and quick. In case you were wondering, there are no perks for me if you sign up through that link. Just benefits for you- like Early Access to the sale and Nordstrom Notes (which are basically gift cards Nordstrom sends you once you reach a certain amount of points- you earn 2 points for every $1 spent at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, Hautelook, and Trunk Club). You also get a bonus note when you spend $100 the day you get approved for your credit card. Because I got approved yesterday, I obviously had to make a purchase. :) I ordered this swimsuit and this top.

What will be included?

As I mentioned, brand new fall merchandise will be included in the sale. Nordstrom just released the online catalog for the sale yesterday, so you can click here to browse through it. It does not include anywhere close to all of the items that will be a part of the sale. There will be amazing clothing, purses, shoes (the best time to stock up on fall boots and booties), makeup, hair products, things for the home, etc.!

Some of my favorite things to stock up on are basics that I know I will wear all fall and winter. The 3 items that I have gotten the most use out of from last year's sale are Zella leggings, Spanx faux leather leggings, and this blanket. I shared the 10 things I got from the last year's sale in this blog post if you want to check out the items I got from the sale last year!

Final Thoughts

Because the closest Nordstrom is hours away, I will be shopping online. But the sale can be shopped in store and online. I will have multiple blog posts about the sale during the July 12- August 5 sale window. If you have a Nordstrom credit card, be sure to check out my post on July 12 for early access! And if you don't have a Nordstrom credit card, you will still be able to check out the things that are included in the sale. You just will not be able to purchase items at their sale prices until July 20, so be sure to check back then!

I know we still have a while before the sale starts, but I wanted to go ahead and share this post, so anyone who does not have a credit card and wants one for early access can get approved before the sale begins! You can click here to learn more about it.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I can't wait to see what all is included in this year's sale! Let me know if you have any questions! Have a wonderful day!

The Best Sales Happening Right Now

In all honesty, I have not done much shopping lately. I haven't really seen much new stuff that I've loved, AND I'm saving up for the huge Lilly Pulitzer and Nordstrom Anniversary sales, which are both coming up in the next couple of months!

However, I did run into a few stores this week and stumble upon some new things that I couldn't pass up. I purchased this dress and this top. And I have found more things online that I'm actually really loving. I can't let these sales go by without sharing all of the good deals! I've narrowed down my picks from each sale- I'm just sharing my very favorites from 5 retailers! You can click on the retailer's name or any of the pictures below to be taken directly to their sites.

J.Crew Factory- 50-60% off dresses

Dress- runs true to size, I'm wearing a medium

Macy's- Lots of great Free People on major sale!

Old Navy- Annual Summer Sale: The whole store is up to 50% off

I'm wearing this tee here, but I also love these tees. They are so comfortable! I sized up and tied mine in a knot.

Wilson Weekend in Southaven Round 2

I have not used my blog to document special memories lately, but that is changing today! I do enjoy writing blog posts about fashion and sales, but my favorite blog posts are real life posts that I can look back on and remember all of the details from the time I got to spend with my favorite people.

The title of this post says Round 2 in it because this was my family's second time to visit us in Southaven. I documented their first visit here- Wilson Weekend in Southaven. Looking back on that post, I did a much better job of taking pictures then. Whoopsies. I do not have nearly as many pictures, but I am happy to share what I've got today!

Friday

My mom, dad, Ebie, and Patrick got to Southaven around 4:30. Just in time for cocktail hour. One of my favorite things to do is celebrate special occasions. Because I will not be with my dad on Father's Day, we celebrated him a little early. My family loves to see the clock when it says 4:44. 4 is our lucky number. We just so happened to say Cheers with our first beer at 4:44-  a sign that we would have the BEST early Father's Day weekend together!

We enjoyed our beer and app (cowboy caviar) while catching up, and then I showed Patrick around our house. It was his first time visiting us in Southaven. My mom and Ebie joined too. Seeing the mancave is always an interesting experience. Next up was dinner. Our weekend basically revolved around eating. We considered going out to our favorite Mexican restaurant in town- Rancho Grande. However, we ended up getting Salsaritas take out, so we could hang out with the pups at home.

After dinner, we did our little Father's Day celebration. I'm so mad I don't have pictures of my dad's treats. If you know him, you know he is not a present lover. So we kept things pretty minimal. We gave him a fun card with a golf game on the front where you had to get the little metal ball into the hole. That was fun for everyone, and on the inside was an official signed document from Ebie and me promising no texting and driving for the year (this is the only gift my dad asks for every year). Ebie's signature was a source of entertainment- it looked something like Elsaba Fosal.

Next up, my dad opened up his gifts- some books that my mom so kindly helped us with. My dad is quite possibly the hardest person in the world to buy gifts for, including books because he has read so many. We got him quite a few new ones that he will hopefully enjoy. I also made a brownie/cookie dessert. I took a picture of the box but not the actual product. Ughhhh- serious fail, but it's safe to say that everyone enjoyed it! We also got him 2 bundtlets (mini bundt cakes) from Nothing Bundt Cakes that we saved for the next night.

IMG_9121.jpg

I did get one good photo from Friday. Rosie adored my mom the entire time she was here. She rarely left her side. The precious little sleepy pup even decided at one point that she would jump up on the back of the couch and use my mom's head as a pillow. They both fell asleep in this position, and I thought my heart might explode.

Facetune_11-06-2018-15-01-56.JPG

It takes a little less than 6 hours to get to Southaven from Mobile, and road tripping will wear ya out. Parker and I typically go to bed early anyway, so we were all in bed by 9:00. Had to get our beauty rest before a fun touristy day in Memphis the next day!

Saturday

We watched the French Open women's finals on Saturday morning, and I made pancakes- Ebie's favorite. Then we went on a short walk with the pups before a longer walk around Southaven suburbia. Next up, we all showered and got ready for a barbecue feast in Memphis.

We took Parker's parents to Central BBQ when they visited us last summer, and we loved it so much that we decided to take my family this time. I loved being able to look back at my blog post from their weekend here last summer and see the pictures of what all we got (blog post here). I planned on ordering the exact same thing I ordered last time before I even went back and checked out last year's post. #creatureofhabit

Facetune_11-06-2018-15-00-57.JPG

There's always a long line, but it moves pretty quickly. We got someone to take our pic while we were in line, and then I made sure to take a picture of all of our plates. Every single one of us cleared our plates. If you're ever looking for good barbecue in Memphis, Central BBQ is a must!

Facetune_11-06-2018-15-03-02.JPG

Next up, we tried to be tourists in Memphis. The Lorraine Motel is right across from Central BBQ, so we walked over there and checked it out. Then we drove past Beale Street and headed on down to the Mississippi River. We finally got some pics here! Parker and I were not the best hosts because we honestly didn't really know where else to take my fam in Memphis, so we headed back to Southaven next.

We were all exhausted by the time we got back, so we took naps. Welcome to vacay with the Goodmans- eat, sleep, repeat. :) We had planned on grilling out for dinner, but after the enormous feast we had for lunch, nobody was really hungry. So we got some yogurt at TCBY and called it a night! Actually after the TCBY, we busted into the bundlets. We went with confetti cake and praline pecan- both were delicious!

Sunday

We woke up Sunday morning and watched the French Open men's finals before heading out on a walk. Then we cooked the meal we had planned on making the night before- hamburgers, french fries, and baked beans. Such a delicious lunch before my family had to hit the road. It's never fun saying goodbye, but it wasn't too bad this time because we will see them again at the beach for the 4th of July!

On Friday, my dad pointed out that he had never seen me put my phone down for so long. This comment really hit me. It is so rare that I am not on my phone, but it is so important to put it down and fully enjoy time with loved ones. I may not have the best picture proof of the fabulous weekend we had (because my phone was missing for part of the weekend), but I sure do have the memories of the special time we had together!

I'm excited to incorporate more lifestyle posts into my blog in the coming weeks and months. But as always- I will link up outfit details for those people here for the fashion. :) Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

The One Pair of Heels Every Girl Needs in her Closet

Heels are not something I wear often, but goodness knows they are a closet staple that are necessary when a dressy occasion arises. There were more heel occasions for me this spring than I can ever remember happening in such a short period of time. My mom got me the heels I'm talking about today as a birthday gift, and I have most definitely already gotten her money's worth out of them.

Facetune_05-06-2018-14-38-41.JPG

These Sam Edelman heels are block heels and the best height (3 inches to be exact). They're not too low, and they're not too high. The block heel and height make them comfortable enough to wear all night long. The scalloped strap is my favorite part. It gives these classic sandals a little element of fun. And they run true to size. I got my regular size, size 9.

The color I have is called classic nude leather. My mom got them in blush gold leather. The classic nude leather is selling out, but they come in several other colors that I will share below.

40A398D1-DDF9-4338-BC45-6BD7AF7874DB.JPG

-At Nordstrom, you can find them in black leather, blush gold leather, classic nude leather (selling out), black suede, golden caramel suede (also selling out), and pink lemonade suede.

-On Sam Edelman's website, you can find them in blush gold leather, nude leopard leather, black suede, camel suede, and true pink suede.

-On Dillard's website, you can find them in gold leather and blush leather. And also black suede and sun glow yellow suede.

I try to steer clear of the word need when it comes to fashion. We need food and water. We don't actually need that 14th sundress that we have our eye on. However, I do think a classic heel is a necessary item to have in our closets. There's nothing worse than having to go search for something the day of an event to find absolutely nothing. This classic Sam Edelman heel will be a closet staple that I know I will be grateful for time and time again!

Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

100 Picks for Under $100 from the Nordstrom Sale

The Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is coming to an end on June 3, and they have added more items to the sale that are SO GOOD! I have browsed dozens and dozens of pages on Nordstrom's website to choose my top 100 picks under $100. Most of these items are significantly under $100, but there are some fabulous markdowns of items (like Marc Fisher wedges) that are right under $100.

One of my favorite new markdowns is these Jack Rogers sandals. I live in them all spring and summer, and they are on sale in 5 colors! Platinum is always my favorite choice because I find that it goes with everything. I also have the gold pair and sparkly silver. I clearly love them! If I purchased one pair, it would be the bone color because I don't have any sandals that color, and I feel like they would go with everything too! They're being price matched, so no telling how long they will stay on sale. Scoop them up quickly if you've been wanting a pair!

My dress is not from Nordstrom, but it is $29.99 and was just restocked! It runs large. I am wearing an XS because that's the only size they had in the store. I would have preferred to size down 1 size to a small!

One of my other favorite new additions to the sale is this ruffle dress. I have it in yellow and LOVE it! My mom actually purchased it in yellow too. The one that is on sale is olive green, and it is starting to sell out. My mom and I both found that it ran a little small, so we both sized up one size.

Facetune_15-04-2018-12-39-24.jpg

I posted this tunic on Instagram the other day and got a few questions about it. It is such a great closet staple! I have it in white and black and wear it year round. I found that it runs true to size. I am wearing my regular size medium. Nordstrom suggests sizing down one size if you're in between sizes. I like clothes like this to be plenty long and roomy, so I went with my regular size. This allows me to wear this tunic with leggings in the fall and winter!

Facetune_23-05-2018-17-04-19.jpg

Onto my other picks! It's easier to check these out on a laptop or desktop because the pictures appear in rows instead of one at a time. If you're on a phone- no big deal! It will just take you a little longer to scroll through all of them.

Do you have any favorites?! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Favorite Purchases from May

We have had quite a change of pace this month after the craziness of February, March, and April. Parker and I were both in 2 of our best friends' weddings the first weekend of May, and then we spent the rest of the month at home! It was nice to have some down time, but now we are rested and excited to head to Atlanta this weekend for my friend Alexa's wedding!

My Favorites from May

Favorite Dress- Dresses were my favorite things to purchase in May. I chose this dress as my favorite, but I absolutely love all 4 of the dresses I purchased in May. They're all so cute, classic, and affordable! My other 3 favorites are this classic blue dress, this off the shoulder ric rac dress, as well as this tie sleeve off the shoulder dress. Other outfit details- shoes | earrings

8205AD28-4E3E-42DC-AC01-13979EBD7778.jpg

Favorite Swimwear- I bought this sarong before I went to the beach for Kelly's wedding, and I LOVE it! I've always wanted to buy a turkish towel, but I didn't have enough time to order one. I found this sarong for $23, and it is PERFECT! My favorite part is that it has a designated place to tie it, so you don't have to figure out how to do that. I bought mine in white at Dillard's, and it is only available in black online at Dillard's. You can click here to find it in black and white at another retailer. And if you prefer something a little longer, you can click here to check out a longer option by the same brand.

Favorite Top- I have worn this tee multiple times. White shirts are a necessity for the summer, and this basic tee is such a good one. Cute, comfy, and affordable with the cutest eyelet sleeves! Other outfit details- shorts | sandals | earrings

Facetune_15-05-2018-14-09-19 2.JPG

Favorite Shorts- I don't buy shorts often because I am so picky about them, and I know I will not wear them if I do not feel comfortable in them. These are so comfortable while also cute and a little dressy. The ruffle adds such a fun touch too! Other outfit details- top

4D1E18E9-6458-4180-9435-B03C6C577526 3.JPG

Favorite Shoes- My parents actually gave me these for my birthday last month, but they are making this month's favorites because I have been wearing them on repeat. They are the perfect pool/ summer sandals, and the striped pair I have comes in 8 colors! If you prefer solid colors, you can click here to check those out.

IMG_8505.jpg

Favorite Accessory- Statement earrings for $12.99? You just can't beat that price! I have the turquoise pair, but they come in 6 other colors. I also love the pink! Other outfit details- top | shorts | sandals

My First Experience with Red Dress Boutique

Are there any stores where you have always wanted to shop, but you just haven't gotten around to making it happen? Red Dress Boutique was one of those stores for me until I finally made my first purchase last week. I had heard great things about it, checked out the website on multiple occasions, really appreciated the prices, but for one reason or another, I never actually placed an order.

Well, after receiving my first order, I have decided to add Red Dress Boutique to the places I frequently shop list. I got the cutest dresses that were so reasonably priced! And when you spend $50, you get free shipping. I am such a sucker for free shipping. Also, you can sign up for emails and get 10% off. I did this right before I placed my order. The email with my 10% off code came in less than 5 minutes after I submitted my email, so I was able to use that discount code immediately on my first order!

What I Ordered:

Light Blue Ruffle Sleeve Dress- The material of this dress is so comfy and easy to steam. The ruffle sleeves are absolutely adorable, and I love the pretty color. It comes in black and white too. It looks like it should cost SO much more than it actually does. For some reason, I was thinking these clothes might run small, so I sized up from my regular medium to a large in this dress. Turns out the things I ordered run pretty true to size, and I could have gone with a medium. However, the large works too and gave this dress a little more length.

Outfit Details- Dress | ShoesClutch- Moyna

Off the Shoulder Dress with Ribbon DetailingThis is one of those dresses that is so easy to throw on and go AKA exactly what I live in during the summer time. I love off the shoulder dresses, and this one stays put so I know I won't have to be tugging on it constantly. It has the cutest double ruffle sleeves. and I love the red, yellow, and blue ribbon detailing. This dress is lined, so it is not in the least bit see through. It is 100% cotton, and I found it to run a little big. I ordered a medium (which is my regular size), and it is a little big on me. I would ALWAYS rather something be too big than too small though. I wore it to get Mexican with Parker, and it was perfect. :)

Outfit Details- Dress | Shoes | Clutch

Coral Ruffle Trim Sleeve Dress- The material of this dress is the same as the blue one I shared above. The dresses are pretty similar, but this one has short sleeves and a v-back. I got a medium in this one and think it fits true to size. It can easily be dressed up or dressed down. I paired it with my Jack Rogers wedges, but it could easily be paired with some nude heels and made more dressy.

Outfit Details- Dress | Shoes | Earrings

Have you shopped at Red Dress Boutique? I'm excited my first purchase is in the books, and now I know to keep this place in mind for future shopping fun! Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

10 Things Tuesday: Shorts for Summer

Shorts can be one of those articles of clothing that are difficult to find. But when I find a pair that fits well, I love them and wear them for years. My favorite basic pairs of white and black shorts are from Gap that I got at least 4 years ago. Luckily, I purchased 2 pairs of each color when I found them, and they are closet staples that I wear over and over again all summer long.

There are 2 main things I think about when I'm shopping for shorts- length and tightness. I'm not all that young anymore, so I can't/ don't want to wear shorts that are too short. But I also don't want my shorts to be too long because those are never flattering. I have learned that shorts with 3.5 & 4 inch inseams are my favorite. So many girls love denim shorts, and they rock them. I have not found a pair of denim shorts that I love because I don't like shorts that are super tight on my thighs. All this to say, I am clearly picky about the shorts I purchase. :)

Today, I am sharing 10 pairs of shorts that I own or would feel comfortable owning. They all meet my requirements- they're not too short or too long, and they aren't super tight in the thigh area. I am also sharing pictures of me in several pairs of the shorts after I share which pairs made this week's top 10!
