25 Things About Me

If you know me in real life, you may already know a lot of this, but I bet ya you will learn something new! I have had 2 new friends I've met through Instagram tag me in this challenge. The challenge was to share 10 facts about myself on Instagram. While I was writing up my 10 facts, it turned into 25, which was far too long for an Instagram caption. So, that's where today's post comes from!

4Lu0UXLbvb4ZE6tT404rsJMlQkFR2diHnZdO6HwODUQ,BZYoQCrrFq3cVKbOmO7pS82Ib9Cf8Il5cUqEiWoZJls,OKC8PUoJSjHdpeYOsvaBTwEhETuB7EPebVqgbucmOJI,Gh8ZAEPwAy9s46mZXNJ6sHTLnZjEFgQZ39RsN2oQIfY,5UFBrJe_WrJeD3rWd-UBoYzfNt2sQAbH6pdacuZlMcc.jpeg

1. My husband's name is Parker. He is not very active on social media, but he is the guy behind the scenes allowing me to make my dream of Art Fashion Fun a reality! I can't express in words how grateful I am for him.

2. Parker works for a contracting company that builds hospitals. That is why we move around every couple years. Once he finishes building a hospital, we move somewhere else for him to build another one. I spent my entire life in Alabama until I married Parker, and we moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas. So this moving around thing was a big change for me, but I do believe it has been really good for me and for our marriage. Although we do hope to make it back to Alabama in the near future.

3. Parker and I are way too obsessed with our 2 Miniature Australian Shepherds Bailey (6) and Rosie (3). If you have been following for any length of time, it is likely you have seen pictures of them or heard about them. They have the funniest (but very different) personalities that bring us laughter and joy daily. They are our children, and we love them SO much.

IMG_4732.JPG

4. I am very close to my family. I have one sister who is 2 years younger than me. My family all still lives in Mobile, Alabama, where I grew up. We try to visit each other as often as possible. I'm still waiting for them to come visit us in Southaven. Come on y'all!

5. Parker's family all lives in Dothan, Alabama, where he grew up. I definitely hit the jackpot in the in laws department. Parker and I know we will end up in Alabama one day, but Dothan and Mobile are around 3 hours apart, so we are always struggling to figure out just where we will end up.

6. I played tennis from the time I was about 3 until I was a senior in high school and got so burned out that I've only played a handful of times since. However, my talented sister was given a full ride to LSU because of her tennis skills. I do believe I will pick it back up again one day.

7. I went to college at the University of Alabama. On the final night of rush, I took 2 hours to choose between 2 of my final 3 sororities. Choosing Tridelt was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had the best college experience because of the amazing friends I met through this sorority!

230616_1861376766625_45881_n.jpg

8. My education program was called the Multiple Abilities Program aka MAP, which means I graduated with degrees in Elementary and Special Education.

9. I joined Teach for America after college and was placed in Huntsville, Alabama at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School as a first grade teacher. My Huntsville roomies and I grew reallll close thanks to this experience. I am still close with them and some of my teacher friends I made at MLK.

IMG_0093.jpg

10. I got my Masters in Elementary Education through an online program at the University of West Alabama.

11. Parker and I got married April 25, 2015 and spent the first couple years of our marriage in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I wasn't so sure how I would feel about Arkansas, but we fell in love with Northwest Arkansas. I will never ever be a fan of the Razorbacks, but we did really enjoy our time there.

12. My friend Celie set me up with a job working at a high end boutique in Northwest Arkansas. This job was beyond fabulous, and through it, I met a fabulous friend who now only lives half an hour away from me!

13. After about 9 months of working at the boutique, I emailed the Principal at St. Joseph Catholic School asking if he needed any volunteers to come in and read with kids who needed additional support. He ended up offering me a Title I Reading Specialist job, which I know with certainty will be the best teaching job that I will ever have. I adored the school, staff, students, and job. I learned that being a Reading Specialist and getting to work with grades K-4 was my dream teaching job.

14. We moved to Southaven, Mississippi in March and do not like it as much as we liked Fayetteville. However, we are happy here and really love our weekend trips to Germantown- shopping for me, baseball card store for Parker, and Tazikis for both of us. :)

IMG_2158.JPG

15. When Parker and I settle down, I cannot wait to start a garden. I want to follow in Gr'Ann and Dede's (my grandparents) footsteps because they are master gardeners. However, I attempted my first box garden in Fayetteville with tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, onion, corn, blueberries, and strawberries, and it's safe to say I have a lot of learning to do. I'm hoping that being able to plant things in the ground one day (when we are not renting) will be helpful.

16. When I started this blog, I almost named it The Bargain Diva because my sister has referred to me as Diva for as long as I can remember and my mom and I are always on the lookout for the best bargains. I am glad I went with Art Fashion Fun. :)

17. I have dreams of becoming confident enough to post on Instagram stories, but I haven't quite grown the courage for that yet. Some of my favorite bloggers are the girls who post Insta Stories frequently because I feel like I know so much more about them, and I love that. I'll get there one day. If you're not already following, click here and follow artfashionfun on Instagram!

18. My favorite place in the world is my parents' condo at Orange Beach. I could never spend enough time there.

IMG_1778.jpg

19. I love to organize, but I'm not good at purging. I have 5 full closets throughout our house. A longterm dream of mine is to have a master bedroom with a closet that can fit all of my clothes and shoes. Until then, I am thinking about starting up a Poshmark account to try to sell some of my clothes. Do you have any success stories from places where you have sold clothes?

20. Some of my favorite tv shows are Dancing with the Stars, The Voice, The Bachelor, Gilmore Girls, Fixer Upper, and Gossip Girl. I personally don't understand why, but Parker is not a fan of any of these shows. He prefers terrifying, haunted, paranormal shows. Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives is one of the only shows we can both agree on.

21. Creating this blog required me to dig deep for bravery. It's easy to worry about what people will think about you, but I am so thankful I found the guts to do it. The pros outweigh the cons by far! If you are nervous about trying something new, I encourage you to push your nerves to the side and go for it!

22. My favorite OOTD (outfit of the day) includes no makeup, hair in a ponytail, t-shirt, leggings, and tennis shoes. However, I created this blog because I also really love fashion and getting dressed up too! Just not every single day.

23. My favorite places to shop are Anthropologie and Nordstrom. I used to be intimidated by Nordstrom, thinking they only had very expensive designer items. I was extraordinarily wrong. You can actually find much more affordable items at Nordstrom than you can at Anthropologie.

24. My favorite purses are by GiGi New York (like the one below) and Tory Burch, and my favorite shoes are by Jack Rogers (also seen below) and by Tory Burch.

IMG_4364.jpg

25. I can't thank you enough for following along on this journey! Nothing makes me happier than hearing from you! If you ever have a comment or question, please reach out. It truly makes my day!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a wonderful day!

August Favorites

Check out some of my favorite things from the month of August! This might be my favorite monthly favorites post yet because I am loving all of these items so much!

IMG_7C459F538A03-1.jpeg

I shared this dress on Instagram a couple weeks ago, and so many people loved it! My sweet mother in law sent me a "happy," which ended up being a gift card to Nordstrom. I still think that was the most thoughtful thing because she saw my posts about all of the things I was loving at Nordstrom, ordered a gift card for me because she doesn't have a Nordstrom near her, and then mailed it to me. So grateful! But anyway, I searched Nordstrom's website for hours, and couldn't stop going back to this dress that I spotted near the beginning of my research. When it came in, I loved it even more than the pictures I saw online because the material is SO soft and it has mint and white stripes! You can't tell in the pictures, but I can assure you there are stripes, and they are so cute! And obviously I have been loving all things with statement sleeves lately, and this dress has got those! The best part about it is that it is only $35! And it also comes in pink and black. Check it out!

Favorite Top

You may remember this top from my shopping trip with my mom and sister. My mom found it online and immediately knew she loved it and wanted to try it on. All credit goes to her for finding this score! It is so soft and comfortable. Plus, it is the best transition piece. It is not a heavy, thick sweater. It is actually pretty thin. I have been wearing it with white jeans and will most definitely be wearing it with leggings and jeans allll fall and winter long! You can be comfortable wearing leggings or skinny jeans with it knowing your behind is covered. It's such a great length! I linked it to Nordstrom because they have this top in 5 different colors. However, you can also click here to shop it at Dillard's, where they have 3 different color options, if that is your preferred place to shop! I personally want it in all colors. It does run big. I sized down to a small.

Favorite Bottoms

I actually bought these in July during the Nordstrom Sale, but they classify as my favorite bottoms to wear in August. I had never heard of Zella until the sale, and I have seriously been missing out. If you do not have a pair, trust me, and order them now! They are high waisted and so comfortable, but at the same time, they suck everything in! They have a no slip waistband, which I didn't know existed, but now believe is a must for all leggings. They are actually made for exercise. However, I wear mine as regular leggings, and I cannot say enough positive things about them!

Favorite Shoes

IMG_4706.JPG

Favorite Shoes // Leggings

Credit goes to my mom again for finding these- maybe she needs to be the fashion blogger. She always finds the cutest things! :) Investing in a good pair of brown boots is a must. They go with everything and will be worn all fall and winter. We sized up half a size in these.

Favorite Accessory

My sister picked these earrings out, and when I was home for her birthday, I borrowed them every single day. Then, my mom got a pair for me when they went on sale! They are such a cute, simple earring with a little bit of fun because of the tassels. I found that the white ones can be worn with everything. They have them in several other colors too. Black would probably be ideal for fall and winter.

Favorite Outerwear

This cardigan is much more than I have ever spent on a cardigan, but as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I will most definitely get my money's worth out of this purchase. I LOVE it! I've been super into leopard print lately, but I am picky when it comes to prints that I actually like. And I actually love this print. I also love the length and style. Longer cardigans are very in style this fall.

I hope you enjoyed checking out my favorite things from August! Do you see anything you like? Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

Three Things Thursday

It's been a while since I have written a Three Things Thursday post, but I hope you enjoy this one today. I am pretty excited to share about all 3 of these unrelated things.

Also, after sharing blog posts about Anthro Day on Sunday and the Lilly Sale Monday and Tuesday, I needed a little break yesterday. So instead of writing a blog post, I did some serious online sale searching and updated my Shop My Picks page with lots of sale items from 7 of my favorite retailers. If you haven't checked it out yet, you might just want to. My favorite long sleeve tee went on sale for under $15, so I scooped up 2 more yesterday, in addition to several other sale items you will be seeing very soon!

Alright, onto today's post...

1. Kleenex Facial Cleansing Products (Facial Cleansing Wipes and Exfoliating Cushions)- Since the Nordstrom Sale, I have participated in countless giveaways. When people are offering up Nordstrom gift cards and other fabulous items, why not follow a few people, like a few pictures, tag your mom and sister 7,000,000 times per day, and attempt to win some free money? I am sad to report that I have not won any monetary giveaways. However, I did enter a giveaway with a blogger that was giving away new Kleenex products to 20 people who entered her giveaway, and just guess who was one of the 20 winners! I am ALWAYS happy to try any new product that gets sent my way. And y'all, I loved them so much that they earned a spot in today's Three Things Thursday lineup!

IMG_4372.JPG
IMG_4371.JPG

Facial Cleansing Wipes- These are my favorite. I have tried several different makeup removing wipes that have hurt my face. Leave it to Kleenex to make the SOFTEST makeup removing wipes/cleanser on the planet. If you get really excited about how soft they are and leave the bathroom to rave to your husband about them and rub your eyeliner off your eye for too long, it does start to burn a smidge. However, if you use these wipes like a normal person and don't rub your eye for too long, they will become your favorite makeup removing wipes you've ever owned. I have used about 10 of mine and have had a wonderful experience 9 out of 10 times!

Exfoliating Cushions- I have used this Garnier Fructis face wash morning and night for years. I absolutely love it and honestly don't do anything to exfoliate my face. However, because these were sent to me, of course I tried them out. They are soft round cushions that cleanse, smooth, and brighten to reveal a healthy, radiant glow in just one use. With a description like that, who wouldn't try them? I have now incorporated them into my routine and use them twice a week. Parker hasn't mentioned anything about noticing my glowing face, but I definitely have enjoyed using them.

2. Vegetti- When I went home a few weeks ago and my family went out to eat, a side of zoodles (zucchini noodles) came with a couple of the entrees my family ordered. My mom was very impressed by them. I told her I got a vegetti as a wedding gift, and I had used it several times. I'm sure many people are a lot more familiar with it than I am. However, if you are unfamiliar with a vegetti, let me inform you- it is a spiral veggie slicer that makes veggie pasta. For example, the other night Parker and I had stir fry for dinner. Instead of eating regular noodles with our chicken and veggies, we used the vegetti to make squash and zucchini noodles. Parker typically is not a fan of squash, but when it was in the shape of a noodle mixed together with the rest of the stir fry, he actually really liked it! The vegetti basically turns your veggies into guilt free pasta! The one we have is under $10, and it works just fine for us! However, you can click here to check out one that is a little fancier but still under $20.

3. Hurricane Harvey Donation- After seeing how devastating Hurricane Harvey has been, Parker and I decided we wanted to help out in some way. SO many people and animals are suffering. Our hearts ache whenever the internet or news show us pictures of the many helpless animals that have been affected. I will not share any of the pictures I have seen because they are so hard to look at, but have you seen the images of the dogs, cats, horses, etc that have been floating around the news and web? They have really been tugging at our heartstrings, so we chose to help out by donating to Austin Pets Alive last night. You can click here to read more about it and give financial support that will go towards the care of many dogs and cats, if you feel called to do so. We look at our own sweet pups who are so comfortable on the sofa with pillows and blankets galore, and we say an extra prayer for all animals, in addition to people, who have been affected by this tragedy. After doing our research, Austin Pets Alive was where we chose to donate our money, but there are so many other wonderful places accepting donations too. Through this terrible tragedy, it is amazing to see so many people doing such amazing things for people and animals who need it the most.

If you are not a Lilly lover, I apologize for my overly excited post. You can check out the newly updated Shop My Picks pageShop My Insta page, or my Anthro Day Sale post from yesterday if you're in the mood for some retail therapy that is not Lilly related!

However, if you do love Lilly as much as I do, happy shopping!!! Let me know if you score anything great! Have a wonderful day!

Anthro Day- Sale Ends Tonight!

I have never posted a blog post on a Sunday, but I found it necessary today! Plus, Sunday is usually more of a rest day where I take the time to do online shopping, so maybe this will be a nice change for you too?!

IMG_4136 2.JPG

I went to Anthropologie yesterday for Anthro Day (weekend), and oh my goodness gracious! Looking online does not even do their new fall arrivals justice. I tried on SO many things and wanted to get this post up now so you can take advantage of the 20% off sale before it ends tonight! I hope you find some pieces that you love as much as I do!

Also, it is still currently in the 80s, so I was wearing shorts when I went shopping. However, the majority of these items need to be paired with leggings or jeans and boots or booties, so try to picture the items I am sharing below with more fall-appropriate pieces instead of the summer shorts and sandals I was wearing! In case you are curious, here are the links to the items you will see me wearing- Sandals // Shorts // Earrings // Necklace // Bracelets

My 5 Favorites

Fluttered Tunic Dress- Favorite! Obsessed. Had to buy it! Love the style, sleeves, and colors for fall. I already have plans to wear this soon!

IMG_4159 2.jpg

Ruffle Sleeve Mock Neck Tunic- SO soft and such a pretty winter white! I think this dress is so chic. There are so many different ways you can style it. If you are a soon-to-be bride and have any fall or winter wedding events coming up, I highly suggest this dress. They call it a tunic, and it could be worn over leggings or jeans I guess. But I personally think it's cutest as a dress! It's a really soft sweatery type material, but not too thick. And it comes in red and black if white is not your thing!

IMG_4160 2.jpg

Leopard Cardigan- I have been loving leopard print lately, but I am pretty picky with which leopard print items I buy. I saw this and it was a no brainer. I will be wearing it ALLLLL fall and winter. I actually put it on in our igloo of a house right when we got home from shopping, and I may or may not actually have it on again today. If you are a leopard print lover, this cardigan was made for you (and me)!

IMG_4151 2.jpg
IMG_4152 2.jpg

Sarina Tunic- When I went through all 10 pages of new arrivals online, I honestly did not even notice this tunic. When I tried it on, I wanted it to come out in 100 different prints because I love the fit so much. It is the perfect tunic to wear with jeans or leggings and boots.

IMG_4149 2.jpg

Hacci Tunic- Comfy oversized sweater in a pretty blush pink? Yes, please!

IMG_4166.jpg

Tops

Lace Top- Saw this online and immediately knew it would be so cute on. It comes in white and pink and they are both adorable.

IMG_4137 2.JPG

Tiered Ruffle Pullover- These ruffle sleeves are the cutest!

IMG_4147 2.jpg

Marled Pullover- Love the colors and material of this pretty sweater!

IMG_4148 2.jpg

Plaid Tunic- This is the perfect top to wear in our warmer temps as we transition to fall! Short sleeves and lightweight, but still fally and perfect to wear with leggings or jeans and booties.

IMG_4165 2.jpg

Ruffled Cross-Back Top- This top is an Anthopologie best seller, and I personally own 2 colors. I am loving the pretty fall colors it now comes in. This navy is my current favorite! And it is one of the very few items I tried on that actually went with the items I was already wearing. :)

IMG_4142 2.jpg

Peasant Top- Any Alabama fans looking for a gameday top? The tassels and pom poms on this one make it super cute and fun! It also comes in navy for you Auburn fans.

IMG_4157 2.jpg

Bell Sleeve Lace Top- So you positively need a tank top underneath this top that is not nude. I was wearing a nude tank top, but don't let that distract you from the beauty of this top! If you wear a dark brown or black tank top underneath, it would be so gorgeous!

IMG_4156 2.jpg

Embroidered Top- I'm still trying to figure out why I was not a big fan of embroidery until recently. The color and embroidery of this top is so pretty!

IMG_4138 2.JPG

Eyelet Top- I had a friend asking recently for updates to her fall wardrobe. She said she would like me to search for some work to play pieces. I think this top is perfect! Conservative enough for work and cute enough for play!

IMG_4143 2.jpg
IMG_4144 2.jpg

Buttoned Blouse- Same as the above ^^^ Another work to play top! Plus, you can never have too many white tops.

IMG_4141 2.JPG
IMG_4140 2.JPG

Ruffled V-Neck Tee- I tried this on while I was in Birmingham, but I wanted to include it because you can get it for 20% off today and it is such a cute basic tee with pretty ruffle detailing!

IMG_3069 2.jpg

Cardigans/Coats

Bell Sleeve Waterfall Cardigan- So soft, so cute, love the bell sleeves!

IMG_4153 2.jpg

Metallic Striped Cardigan-The name says it all- metallic striped. Love!

IMG_4154 2.jpg

Plush Coat- I could not justify buying this just yet, especially considering I was wearing shorts in the fitting room, but OMG. I love this beautiful, warm coat!

IMG_4161 2.jpg

Dresses

Striped Tunic Dress- I saw this online before I went shopping and loved it then. When I tried it on, I loved it even more. The sleeves are amazing! And btw- size down 1 size. I was wearing a medium, and it was way too big. However, Parker was waiting on me at this point, and I was hurrying so fast that there was no time to go grab a different size.

IMG_4163 2.jpg

Tie Waist Kimono Tunic Dress- This is actually supposed to tie at the waist, but I liked it better on me untied! It is such a cute fall dress that would be adorable with leggings and boots when it cools down.

IMG_4164 2.jpg

Plum Lace Dress- Adore the style of this dress! The color, the sleeves, the v neck, the fabric- it's all so beautiful!

IMG_4162 2.jpg

Beaded Caftan- So many people loved this when I posted it a while back. Posting it again, so you can get it while it's 20% off today!

IMG_2949.jpg

Sale Items (which are an additional 30% off!)

Chambray Tunic- I tried this on months ago thinking it looked like something my mom would wear. I actually really liked it myself too, so when I saw it was included in the sale plus an additional 30% off, I purchased it yesterday!

IMG_4145 2.jpg

Embroidered Tunic Dress- Super cute summer dress with so many pretty details!

IMG_4158 2.jpg

Milla Printed Top- Tried this on when I was in Birmingham. It is now included in the sale. Such a cute top that comes in several beautiful prints.
