Wednesday Wish List

So, my sister had been searching for a sarong and when I discovered the one she ended up deciding on, I was shocked at how adorable it was (no offense, Ebie). She is not typically the type of girl who does much research on her fashion choices, but she did this time, and I am obsessed with what she found. So obsessed in fact that I decided to make my first Wednesday Wish List.

The sarong she ended up choosing came from Revolve, which is not a site that I typically check out. And I'm not sure why. They offer free shipping and returns, which is always wonderful. Plus, if you sign up for their email list, then you get 10% off your first order. I have rounded up some of my favorite pieces from their website. Each piece is under $100. With a lake/beach trip coming up, I think you can tell from this list that I am eyeing some vacation pieces!

My Favorite Jeans for Under $50

Sometimes there are great deals you get that end up being the worst because the pieces you purchase end up being bad quality and last 2 wears, or they shrink the first time you stick them in the washing machine when the tag says machine wash cold. These jeans are NOT that type of deal. I am so excited to share them with you because they are simply wonderful. I am guilty of buying Citizens of Humanity jeans, AGs, Sevens, and other types of designer jeans that cost way more than I care to admit. That is, until I discovered these jeans last fall.

Once I found these, I shared the amazing news with my mom, and these are now all we wear. We have them in black, blue, navy, gray, and white. They are so comfortable, a great length, high waisted, and perfect for any occasion!

Whether it is casual/jeans day at work...

or you are heading to dinner...

or at a football game...

or at a rainy Luke Bryan concert on a farm...

or running errands and shopping...

or you are meeting the girls...

or having date night with your husband/ boyfriend/ dog...

these Old Navy Rockstar jeggings and/or jeans will be your go-to pants!

My pairs that are black, blue, navy, and gray are all the Mid-Rise or Pull-On Jeggings. My white pair is the Mid-Rise Built-In-Sculpt Rockstar jean. They are amazing, and the best part is that Old Navy has sales all the time. For example, right now they are 40% off. I'm pretty sure my mom, sister, and I got most of ours for around $17 because we waited for the best deals. We did all size up one size because they do run a little small, but I highly suggest these jeans! You will not be disappointed!

What type of jeans do you like best?! I do still love my DL 1961 jeans because of the stretch, material, and comfort, but I honestly haven't worn them since I discovered these Old Navy Rockstar jeggings and jeans. Let me know if you try them out. Thanks so much for reading!

8 Off the Shoulder Looks

There are lots of trends that come and go and lots that I am not so sure about, but the off the shoulder trend is one I have been behind 100% from day one. About half of the pieces below I actually bought over a year ago. And the trend is still going strong! I am totally ok with this and bought some new off the shoulder pieces this season to add to my collection.

There are lots of different ways off the shoulder tops can be styled. I think the key to finding the best off the shoulder tops is trying them on and making sure they stay on your shoulders and do not ride up. I have rounded up 8 different off the shoulder pieces from my closet to show you how I style them.

An Embroidered Shift Dress for Cinco de Mayo

Like the mule trend, I was not so sure about the embroidery trend. This dress is the first article of clothing I own that is embroidered, and I actually really like it. My mom and I have been watching it all season and waiting for it to go on sale. Once my mom saw it go on sale at Belk, she scooped it up for herself and for me. We love it so much that we are now contemplating getting it in navy! The fun sleeves, crochet trim, length (it might be a little short if you are taller though- I am 5'5"), and keyhole with button closure are some other reasons to love this dress. It's really comfortable and seems like it will be one of those easy, toss-on-and-go dresses.

This exact dress is still on sale at Belk for 30% off. And I just discovered that it is on sale in this yellow AND in navy at Bloomingdale's for 40% off! If you check it out on the Free People website, it is not on sale, but you can see all of the different color options. I might have to take advantage of that Bloomingdale's sale and grab it in navy!

What do you think about the embroidery trend? Do you own anything that is embroidered? I'm open to checking out more embroidered pieces since I am loving this dress so much! Happy Cinco de Mayo! Have a fabulous weekend!

Spotlight on Sally Wilson Art

So, I am aware that it might not be the best etiquette to brag about your mom, but what better time to show off her talents than a week and a half away from Mother's Day?! This woman was blessed with an artistic gene. She did not pass it on to my sister or me, but she sure is generous with her art. I don't know what would be on the walls of our house if it weren't for her. Actually I do- Auburn prints, Widespread Panic posters, and other "art" suitable only for a mancave. I shudder just thinking about it.

My mom is the most humble artist you will meet and insists she is not a "real artist," so she gets uncomfortable with the concept of people paying money for her paintings. Because she is so shy about this, I am taking on the task of telling you that Art Fashion Fun is not just a blog. It is also an online store where my mom's art is sold. With reasonable prices and free shipping on all purchases, we think everyone needs a piece of Sally Wilson Art!

One of the best perks she offers: if you see a design that you like, but not in the colors or size you want, you can custom order a painting in the size and colors of your choice. For example, my sister's best friend wanted a painting to brighten up her mostly tan bedroom. So she chose a style she liked that she found on the Shop tab and told my mom the colors and size she wanted, and my mom is currently in the process of painting that for her (see picture below). Prices are based on size for the most part. If you have any questions or would like to ask about a custom piece made just for you, send an email to artfashionfun@gmail.com.

One of the hardest parts about buying art from a website is that you do not get to see it in person before purchasing it. Because of this, I am going to give you a little home tour today to show you how my Sally Wilson Art looks in my house. Some of the paintings you will see are actually for sale. My walls are just giving them a nice, safe home before they are purchased. : ) Click on the Shop tab at the top to take you to the online store, so you can see what is available. Whether it is a painting that is neutral or bright and colorful, Sally Wilson Art brings a classic element of design to every room. I hope you love it as much as we do!

Master Bedroom and Bathroom

Living Room, Hallway, and Kitchen

Guest Bedroom and Bathroom (the last two in this category are actually paintings that my mom did for all of my bridesmaids and me for my wedding- I thought they made great gifts!)

My Office

Thanks so much for reading! I hope this little home tour gave you a better idea of what Sally Wilson Art looks like on the walls. Email us or comment below if you have any questions. Or you can click here to be taken to the online store. Have a great day!

Gift Ideas for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is in less than two weeks, so I wanted to go ahead and share my picks for those special mamas who deserve the world! I have broken down my 30 gift ideas into 3 categories. The first one includes gifts that are $50 and under. The second category includes gifts that are $100 and under. And the last one includes gifts that are $150 and under. Of course we think Sally Wilson art would be the perfect gift, so you can find paintings by my mom in all three categories. : )

Gifts for $50 and Under

  1. Sally Wilson Art on Art Fashion Fun
  2. Happy Everything Black Stripe Mini Vase with 5 Stem White Hydrangea Bouquet
  3. Tory Burch Terra Flip Flop
  4. GiGi New York Clutch
  5. Jack Rogers Shelby Wedge
  6. Hayden Reis Ombre Blue Middy (a monogram would make it even more adorable)
  7. Kate Spade Cameron Street Small Dody (on sale for $118!)
  8. RTIC 30 Soft Pack from Amazon
  9. Anthropologie Miette Textured Tunic Dress by Holding Horses
  10. Lake Pajamas Short-Long Set

Dog mamas can be celebrated on Mother's Day too, right?! I personally think so. If you agree Parker, I would like 1 Anthropologie Striped Kaftan Cover-Up, 1 Hayden Reis Ombre Blue Middy plus a monogram in bright orange, and 1 pair of Lake Pajamas. Or you would be safe going with 1 of everything on all 3 lists.

Is there anything on this list that you think your mom would like? Or maybe that YOU like? I would love to know! Thanks so much for reading! I hope you find the perfect gift for a special mother in your life!

April Favorites

Considering Easter, my birthday, my wedding anniversary, and my dad's birthday all took place this past month, it's safe to say that April has been a celebratory month! Check out some of my favorite items from April below.

Favorite Dress- Geo Eyelet Shirtdress from Anthropologie

When I first saw this dress, I thought it was a beach coverup, but when I tried it on, I noticed it came with a slip under it. I can see myself wearing it as a beach coverup or dress and just removing the slip when I wear it as a beach coverup. It is made by Maeve, which is one of my favorite brands at Anthropologie. It runs a little large, so I sized down one size. Plus, I always love a dress with pockets!

Favorite Bottoms- Trina Turk Valera Silk-Blend Shorts from Amazon

These are on sale and selling out quickly! My first pair of Trina Turk Valera shorts were bright orange and came from the boutique where I worked in Northwest Arkansas. I fell in love with them as soon as I tried them on. I got a pair for myself and bought a pair for my mom for her birthday. They are higher waisted, lined, and a great length. My mom found this pair on sale and bought them for me for my birthday. She bought herself a pair too. We clearly think they are a great fit!

Favorite Top- Gibson Ruffled Handkerchief Hem Top from Nordstrom

From the fabulous price to the blush color, fit, and sleeves, this shirt deserves all the heart eye emojis. Plus, I LOVE the ruffles! Ruffles on the sleeves and ruffles on the hem. Love them all! It is a little longer in the back and goes down just low enough to cover your behind, which is another plus. This shirt will be on repeat with white jeans for the rest of the spring and summer.

Favorite Shoe- Marc Fisher Pomme Mule from Marc Fisher

I wasn't so sure about the mule trend until I came across this pair of shoes. The scalloped topline, light natural color, and cork block heel drew me in, and now I can't get enough of this trend.

Favorite Beauty Product- Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss from Sephora (in color Diorama)

This is typically not a category where I splurge. However, I had a gift card to Sephora and knew I wanted to get a nice lip gloss. My mom has always told me Dior makes really great lip gloss. I was debating between Bobbi Brown, Buxom, and this one. I kept coming back to this Dior gloss and ended up purchasing it. I am now hooked. I even took a close up selfie to show y'all how great it is. I love the subtle pink color and lasting shine.

Favorite Painting- Mixed Media XX from Art Fashion Fun

Of course I had to include this category! :) I love the neutral background with muted colors and lots of pretty colors with gold leaf in the middle. This one will be hanging in my house until someone claims it!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my April favorites! Tomorrow I will be back with gift ideas for Mother's Day! Thanks for reading!
