Three Things Thursday

I've got another Three Things Thursday post for y'all today with (unsurprisingly) 3 things that have next to nothing in common. However, before I get into the three things, I've got to give Parker a birthday shoutout! It would take me way too many blog posts to attempt to put into words how grateful I am for this wonderful husband of mine!

Parker did not ask to be the unpaid, hard working photographer for Art Fashion Fun. However, he has so kindly accepted this job and been the best behind-the-scenes supporter I could have ever asked for. He doesn't typically read my blog posts- I think the time spent on photographs is enough Art Fashion and Fun for him. But I couldn't write a blog post on his birthday and not throw a birthday wish out there!

That's enough for now. Back to today's 3 things:

1. The best, long-lasting lip color- I will be the first to tell you that I am not one who knows much about makeup. However, I have a few select products that I really do love, and this ultra wear lip color is one of them. It is known to be extremely long-lasting. And the color I have is perfect for fall and winter. On one side, it has the base color coat, and a clear gloss is on the other side. The color I have is #69 Tender Beige. It is a little more than I typically spend on lipstick. However, it is worth it in my opinion!

IMG_6767.jpg

2. Marinating chicken in buttermilk- Y'all might think I'm crazy on this one. However, we love it! Parker watched something that said marinating chicken in buttermilk will make your chicken super moist. So, we buy buttermilk when we know we will be eating chicken. And the night before Parker cooks the chicken, he puts the chicken and buttermilk in a ziplock bag and lets it sit in the refrigerator overnight.

We have been doing this for a couple of years now. However, Parker's parents got into town last night, and we cooked dinner at home for them. As soon as Parker's mom tasted the chicken, she said what did y'all do to this chicken? It is so moist! So that made me realize people may not know this little trick, and I decided to switch up one of my original three things to this one. If you try it out, let me know what you think!

IMG_7771.jpg

3. The cutest holiday outfit- I shared this picture on Instagram last night, but I wanted to share it here too because it is the perfect outfit for any holiday party! Or any fun occasion really. Y'all, this skirt is the cutest! Bright pink and ruffles? I clearly had to have it. It also comes in indigo and topaz if pink is not your thing. The best news is that it is on sale right now. What you need to know is that it runs extremely large. I sized down 2 sizes. And the pretty silk blouse is true to size. It is also on sale!

The link I provided takes you straight to the Shop My Insta page. All you have to do is click on the picture shown below on the Shop My Insta page, and all of the outfit details will appear (along with some other pink sale items I linked). Click on any of the items you see, and you will be taken directly to that item on the retailer's site! You will definitely see more of me in this skirt. I'm thinking some sparkly silver or gold heels would be so much fun with it!

Parker's parents are in town, it's Parker's birthday, and I am meeting Kathleen from Carrie Bradshaw Lied. It's a great day! Thanks so much for reading! Have a wonderful day!

Wednesday Wishlist: J.Crew Factory Edition

A couple weeks ago, my mom sent me a picture of this coat from J. Crew Factory. Ever since she sent that text, I have noticed at least half a dozen bloggers wearing it. Every time I have tried something these bloggers have shared, I have been so happy with my purchase. They say it is the highest quality coat that you will most definitely get your money's worth out of. I have seen girls wearing gray, camel, and purple. My mom's favorite is green, and my favorite is pink!

After thinking about this coat for the past 2 weeks, I decided to make a wishlist of all the things I want from J.Crew Factory. I've also been trying to figure out why I don't shop here more often. High quality J.Crew items for a fraction of the price... there are so many amazing deals! Another perk is that they offer $5 flat rate shipping and free shipping on orders over $100.

I think so many things I'm sharing below would be perfect Christmas gifts (especially the jewelry and scarves). My mom actually got Ebie and me these earrings yesterday with a coupon she had for her birthday. They would make such a cute and fun gift or stocking stuffer!

I actually stopped by J.Crew (not Factory) yesterday, and I stumbled upon this coat, which is almost identical to the one at J.Crew Factory. The only thing that looks different is the pockets. And the original price of this one is $350, and it is currently on sale for $262.50. The similar coat at J.Crew Factory is originally $228, and it is currently marked down to $159.50.

The majority of the items you will see below come in various colors. If you click on the picture, you will be taken to that item on J.Crew Factory's website and you can check out all of the other color options. I think this coat that my mom picked out is still my very favorite (it is pictured below in red), but I am also LOVING the jewelry, pjs, vests, and these signature leggings

Do you have any favorites? There are just too many cute things for such reasonable prices! Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

3 Casual Fall Looks

Today I'm sharing 3 casual looks for fall with items that I have been wearing on repeat. Each of the 3 tops I'm sharing I have in multiple colors because they are so good. My favorite thing to look for in a top lately has been length. Anything I can pair with my favorite black leggings, olive moto leggings, or faux leather leggings (all of which are high waisted) is a win in my book!

In Southaven, Mississippi, I don't have too many reasons to get too dressed up, so all the pieces included in these casual looks are pieces that I get so much use out of. They are all super comfortable and easy to throw on and go! Plus, most pieces are very reasonably priced. All of the tops are under $30!

Look 1- Plush Turtleneck Tunic // Leggings // Boots // Scarf // Earrings

IMG_7352.jpg

I also have and love this top in green! It is SO soft and comfortable!

IMG_6966.jpg
IMG_7353.jpg

I have shared this top several times. I have it in 9 colors because it is the best layering tunic for any season! And now that it comes in a luxe material, it is even more comfortable!

IMG_6954.jpg
IMG_7354.jpg

I have this tunic in black and white, and it is the perfect top to dress up or down!

IMG_6804.jpg

You can find me in many of these pieces (or the other colors that I have) quite a few days of the week. Do you buy multiple colors when you find something you love that is reasonably priced?? My mom and I love to do that! Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

The Most Comfortable and Affordable Wedges

I dont think I have written an entire blog post devoted to one pair of shoes yet. However, that is changing today! I am so excited to share more about these shoes with you. First, I need to give credit to my mom's friend, Mrs. Ashley! She is the one who discovered these fabulous wedges. And thanks to my mom for buying them for me!

IMG_7307.jpg
IMG_7308.jpg
IMG_7309.jpg

Outfit Details: Shoes // Pullover, also here (go down one size) // Leggings // Earrings // Necklace

I will start by telling you that they are $33.99. Ummmm, for a pair of cute wedges, that is unreal in my opinion! Especially for a pair of wedges that will get as much use as these. They run true to size. I am wearing my usual size. They are so comfortable and the perfect taupe color, so you can wear them with so many different outfits. However, if you prefer black, I just stumbled upon them. Click here to go to the black pair! They are $39.99.

I am not one of those people who wears heels frequently. I would rather be comfortable in shoes, so you can typically catch me wearing boots and booties in the fall. However, I have actually been wearing these more than my boots and booties because they are so soft and comfortable. Plus, they are both season and weather appropriate! I have worn them for a full day of shopping in Memphis, as well as many other times.

IMG_6656.JPG

Also, I discovered the other day that photographing shoes is a really challenging task for me. I hope you can tell how amazing they are from the pictures. But if you can't, I will leave you with a review that one of my best friends left in a comment on a post last week.

"Got my taupe Pierre Dumas wedges and wore them out Friday! They are SO comfy and light weight!! I know they will be my staple transition shoe (until it gets too cold for my toes)! Thinking about getting my sisters pairs too!"

Sarah, thank you SO much for commenting and giving me feedback about a purchase you made through my blog! I can't even tell you how much joy that brings me! Your few sentences describe these shoes better than I did in several paragraphs!

I clearly love these shoes, and I love when I get to share super affordable options with you! Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

Ten Fall Trends

Today I'm sharing 10 Fall 2017 trends and how I feel about each of them. I typically am not one to explore crazy trends, but I can definitely get behind many of the trends that are happening right now! However, there are also several on this list that I am not so sure about...

1. Statement sleeves- 100% YES! Ruffle sleeves, bell sleeves, balloon sleeves, tie sleeves... I love them all! Outfit details: Bell sleeve tunic // Leggings // Boots

IMG_6249.jpg

2. The color red- I like red! This trend isn't that crazy, but I honestly don't have much red in my wardrobe. However, I did just get this red dress because I thought it would be perfect for the holidays! I got it from a boutique in Memphis called Indigo. The following link is to Nordstrom because Indigo does not have it online. It is the same dress though! Outfit Details: Dress // Shoes (32% off) // Clutch // Earrings // Bracelets

5623730C-01BE-4895-ACC8-CC0BF609C755.jpg

3. Velvet- I'm not so into this one. Other people look cute in it, but it's not as much my style. Ok, so I wrote this caption before I searched for velvet things. My opinion has changed. I now like several velvet things, especially the Tory Burch bag and Sam Edelman shoes below. I'm still not crazy about velvet clothes, but I guess I can get behind certain velvet shoes and handbags.

4. Victorian detail- I like more moderate Victorian details. I think Victorian necklines can be very pretty. However, I have discovered that many Victorian style pieces are WAY out of my price range and some are WAY too eccentric for me. For example, the first dress pictured below is $2,005. Disclaimer- I do not like all of the pieces I am sharing below, just trying to give an overview of Victorian details. I do like the second and third items I linked though.

5. Florals- I am so picky about florals, but I do love this floral dress!

FullSizeRender 25.jpg

6. Ruffles- YES times 4 billion. I love all ruffles. Outfit Details: Dress // Crossbody Bag

IMG_5718.JPG

7. Metallic- I like some metallic clothing, but I cannot pull off the shoes.

8. Pearl embellished everything- LOVE! Ok, this trend actually did the opposite of what several other trends did to me. I really loved the pieces I have seen several bloggers post about. They look so cute in their pearl embellished jeans and pearl embellished booties. However, the more pearl embellished pieces I found, the less I loved it. I still like it, but I don't love it like I initially thought I did.

9. Asymmetrical details- My opinion varies so much in this category. However, we do all love this Free People top that has an asymmetrical hem.

IMG_6250.jpg

10. LEOPARD PRINT! If you read my post last week, you are well aware that I am loving the leopard print trend. If you missed it, click here to check it out! Or you can click here to go to my leopard print dress shown below!

IMG_6810.jpg

What do you think about these trends? I think ruffles has to be my number 1 favorite. But statement sleeves and leopard print are right behind ruffles! Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

Old Navy Try On Session

Y'all, I went to Old Navy yesterday, and they have way too many cute fall things! And more good news- everything is up to 50% off for the big fall sale! I tried on quite a few items and only ended up buying 3 of them (this blanket scarf and this tunic in 2 colors) because #budgeting. However, I now have a list of so many fabulous things that I want!

Details of the outfit I wore to Old Navy: my favorite Old Navy tunic that I have in 9 colors // my favorite leggings that are so comfortable // my favorite new wedges that are $33.99 and like walking on clouds // crossbody bag (clearly the theme of this outfit was comfort)

IMG_6952.jpg

Long and Lean Tunic- The first thing I tried on was this tunic that I mentioned above (and have in 9 colors and actually wore to the store). I clearly do not need another one. However, they now come in a luxe material that is so soft and comfortable. If you don't have one of these, I highly suggest it! The length makes it perfect to wear with leggings or skinny jeans! And it comes in several different colors.

IMG_6953.jpg

Relaxed Soft-Washed Classic Shirt- The name says it all. This button-down is so soft and classic. I'm loving the colors of their plaids right now.

IMG_6955.jpg

Relaxed Soft-Washed Classic Shirt 2- I tried it on in this print too because I have the dress version of this windowpane shirt, and I love it!

IMG_6958.jpg

Puffer Vest- I knew I had to try this on as soon as I walked in. It makes so many outfits so much cuter. It's also fleece lined and very warm. It comes in 5 other colors if pink is not your thing. However, pink is my thing, and I really like the blush pink option too. :)

IMG_6954.jpg
IMG_6956.jpg
IMG_6959.jpg

Quilted Vest- Everyone needs one of these for fall! It's such a cute layering piece that is lightweight and will not make you too warm. This one comes in 5 other colors too.

IMG_6957.jpg

Long Moto Jacket- This is one of those nice, thick jackets that should be pricy, but because it's from Old Navy, you can get it for a steal. My store had it in black and red, and I just saw that it also comes in a pretty blush color, and oh my goodness, I love it even more!! This is a great quality coat for a fraction of the price of most nice coats.

IMG_6961.jpg

Plush Turtleneck Tunic- This tunic will be my uniform this fall. I LOVE THIS! The all caps were necessary because I can't express to you in text how much I love this tunic. It is SO soft, the perfect length to wear with leggings or skinny jeans, and such a cute style!

IMG_6963.jpg

Plush Turtleneck Tunic 2- I tried it on in this pretty wine color too. However, I actually ended up buying the green one pictured above and a charcoal gray color that I did not get a picture of. It comes in 6 colors, and I want to own one of each. I will definitely get my money's worth out of this cute tunic!

IMG_6962.jpg

Blanket Scarf- I have never owned a blanket scarf, and when I saw this, I knew I had to get it. I absolutely love how chunky it is, and I love the colors. Don't you think they are perfect for fall? It comes in 13 other prints too, and I love so many of them!

IMG_6965.jpg

Stevie Ponte Knit Pants- Have you heard of these?? They are called pants, but they feel like extremely comfortable leggings. Ummm, teachers (and every working woman), please order these. You will want to wear them every single day.

IMG_6966 2.jpg

Rockstar Jeggings- If you don't have these yet, do yourself a favor and get them now! I have black, white, several shades of blue, navy, and gray. I tried on this sateen pair yesterday, but you can click here if you're interested in a classic blue pair.

IMG_6967.jpg

Suede Block Heel Booties- I loved these the second I saw them. They are such a classic pair of booties that will go with everything! They were really hard to show you in a picture when I had them on, so I also took a picture of them on the shelf. There are several colors, and I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. Also, I didn't see these in the store, but I just found these  suede tassel zip booties online, and they are adorable too!

IMG_6964.jpg
IMG_6970.jpg

Navy Swing Dress- I have this in 2 colors and seriously considered getting this navy one. It's one of those dresses you can wear for so many different occasions.

IMG_6968.jpg

Mock Neck Sweater Swing Dress- I think this was the only thing I tried on that I did not like. I love it on the hanger and I love the mock neck, but it was too long and swingy on me.

IMG_6969.jpg

I also feel the need to include these dresses that I already have because I think they are fall must-haves, and I have each style in 2 colors!

Leopard Print Love

Before last year, you could not have paid me to wear leopard print... until I found a leopard print dress that I fell in love with, which then lead me to a leopard print scarf. And now this year, I am full on accepting my love of all things leopard print! Plus, it’s super on trend, so why not?! Today I'm sharing 5 leopard print items I've gotten lately, and 3 of the 5 items (the first 3) are under $35!

1. Dress- I got so lucky with this dress. The first one I got was black. Someone put it back in the wrong spot, and it was the only one I could find in the whole store, and it just so happened to be my size. I have loved my black one so much that when this leopard print one went on sale, my mom got it for me! It is such a flattering dress that is surprisingly very nice quality for the price. And of course I love the ruffle sleeves!

Outfit details: Dress // Earrings // Booties

2. Booties- Pictured below is the black dress I was telling you about above. It can be styled in countless ways. However, one of my favorite ways I've worn it so far is with these leopard print booties! They look and feel so much more expensive than they actually are!

Outfit details: Dress // Earrings // Booties

3. Scarf- I stumbled upon this scarf in store, and it was $10, so I had to get it. It adds a little bit of fun to any simple outfit that needs a little something extra!

4. Jeans- These jeans are the newest item I've added to my leopard print collection, and I am so excited to share them with you! They're currently marked down from $118 to $69.95, and I just simply couldn't pass them up. They are just so fun, comfortable, and easy to style!

Outfit details: Tunic // Jeans // Booties // Crossbody Bag // Earrings

5. Cardigan- I spotted this cardigan a couple months ago, tried it on, and put it back on the rack because of the price. However, before I left the store, I decided to put back 2 of the other items I was planning on getting and got this cardigan instead. I knew I would immediately regret it if I didn't get it. It's so comfy, and I'm excited to actually get to wear it now that it's getting cooler.

Bonus- First Leopard Print DressThis was my first leopard print item I ever owned! I saw it last year and loved the style of the dress so much that I knew I had to have it (even though I was pretty scared of leopard print at the time). I can't find the exact leopard print anymore. However, I have linked up the dress, and it comes in several different colors and prints. I have the leopard print one pictured below, as well as one in a blue snake print. I absolutely love the solid ones and also have my eye on this zebra print one. It's such a well-made dress that I know will be in my closet forever!

What are your thoughts on leopard print? I believe mine are pretty obvious. :) Thanks so much for reading! Have a great day!

My pledge sister recently texted me this: "Hey buddy! How are you? Come visit soon!!! I am so excited I am having a girl soon. I need to dress her as cute as you do. Where should I look for her? You have the best taste!" I thought... Me? Omg. What a compliment. I wanted to tell her all of my secrets immediately!

This is how I responded... OMG, you're too sweet. You made my day. Here is my list....

My online favorites:

*Tip: Smocked Auctions is an awesome site and gives you "points when you buy." Once you have enough points you use them for free clothes! Genius!

*More about Flirtees: A local Huntsville lady named Susie Fortner (Flirtees4u@gmail.com) personalizes shirts and dresses for 0-12 year olds and cheerleader outfits for your favorite team!!

Brands:

*The key is to bargain shop and buy from other moms online. You can get things that you would normally get at a boutique for like $20 or less. It's in the details! Simple is best in my opinion! A big bow and cute socks/shoes to compliment the outfit ties it all together.

Home shows to go to: If you have a rep in your area, go see the clothes. You don't have to buy everything you see! I usually go and buy one super cute outfit, and they always last!

  • Red Beans
  • The Beaufort Bonnet Company
  • Alice Kathleen
  • Shrimp and Grits
  • Shades Kids
  • Matilda Jane

Here is a breakdown:

Dresses: SO many online boutiques have lots of back to school options. Cecil and Lou is among my favorite for online choices, but they can take a while to ship, especially if it's a pre-order or if you get it monogrammed. My advice- go ahead and get it and let a local person monogram! Smockingbird Clothing is among my favorites as well. They ship fast and have great options for back to school and fall! I love reds, greens, blues, and of course pinks for fall. Also, invest in a super cute blouse for layering and putting under dresses and jumpers (Shrimp and Grits has the cutest IMO). Also, monogram the collar if you can. I also LOVE corduroy smocked dresses and jumpers in the fall!

Janie- Cecil and Lou, Anne Byrom- The Smocking Bug

Janie- Cecil and Lou, Anne Byrom- The Smocking Bug

Bubbles: Cecil and Lou, Smockingbird, Smocked Overstocks (Shrimp and Grits at a discount), also Smocking Hot Mamas Facebook group (the one that says without entitlement). You can search at the top for whatever you want, whether it be Matilda Jane size 6, boys bubble 3 months, or Hunter Boots. You can get deals from these moms who are purging! I get the majority of my girls' clothes this way! Also, I love Shades Kids- online or a local rep.

IMG_6723.jpg

Shoes: CHUS!!!! These are the new craze, and they're amazing! They are like Keds but cuter because they have a bow (removable), and they come in almost every color imaginable (pictured below in red). Livie and Luca has the cutest boots too! Also, Uggs for fall/winter and Saddle Oxfords for boys and girls!! I love love love pink and brown saddle oxfords on girls. It took me a while to get used to this, but it's so precious and PERFECT with tall socks for fall/colder weather and the School Girl look.

IMG_0792.JPG

Socks: Jeffries eyelet socks and Jeffries tall socks! Get the thicker ones bc the thin ones wear quickly. Also, get a cute tiny monogram on the top of the socks! (Online or local Boutiques)

IMG_0989.JPG
IMG_1625.JPG

Bows: Wee Ones Bows- local boutique or online! Every color and every size! (bow size depends on age)

IMG_0860.JPG

Shirts and Bottoms: Blanks Boutique! You can get long sleeve blanks shirts, long sleeve dresses and also a variety of colors in corduroy pants to match. Shrimp and Grits has cute pants/tops outfits for boys and girls, as well as Smocked Auctions, Cecil and Lou, Smockingbird, and Mini Boden.

IMG_0852.JPG

Coats: You can't go wrong with any style Widgeon Coat (pictured below) or a classic pea coat! Angel Dear also has darling options.

TEAM Spirit!

Roll Tide, War Eagle, Hotty Toddy, Go Dawgs, or Go Bulldogs? I dress my girls in Alabama gear every Friday during football season, and I love it! Check out Smocked Auctions, Cecil and Lou, and other online places for cute bubbles, dresses, and shirts. Like I mentioned earlier, Flirtees also has really great options (as shown in the first picture below)!

*How To Purge*

I've tried selling on Facebook sites, selling on local sites, creating my own page for selling locally, Bagsy online, selling to friends and friends of friends, donating to my children's preschool... but I still have A TON!

I have also recently tried consigning at a local shop. I hung dresses on hangers (they even told me they'd give me some if I swing by- which is amazing because all of my hangers are full), folded up Pjs and whatever else doesn't need to hang, and I dropped it off! It was so, so easy! I drop off about once a month, and they send me a check in the mail. I also find things in there I want to buy, so it works out!
