For as long as I can remember, I have loved taking pictures. I am by no means a good photographer. I just like having the memories that sometimes only pictures can allow you to remember. Scrapbooking is definitely a hobby I enjoy, but it is also very time consuming and pretty costly when you have as many pictures as I do.
Although I do have up-to-date scrapbooks of my pups, I have not made a scrapbook with people pictures in way too long. Because of this, the task of starting that project sounds daunting to me. So I am going to use my blog to document this trip. Now that I have started up Art Fashion Fun, I have found myself referencing blog posts to remember certain things. This was a weekend I do not want to forget.
When you don't live in the same town as your best friends, the time you do get to spend with them becomes even more special. 3 of my best friends live in Birmingham, one was coming in town, and one had a birthday coming up, so one of my friends suggested I make the trip down and we make it a girls' weekend. I am SO glad we did because it was so good to catch up face to face! This is definitely something that needs to happen more often!
Friday
If you have seen my posts the past couple of days, you know I spent some time shopping at The Summit before meeting up with my friends. Click here to see my Dressing Room Diaries Part 1 post, and click here to see my Dressing Room Diaries Part 2 post.
Before I started shopping, I ate lunch at Urban Cookhouse. I would want to eat here every week if I had one in my town. The grilled chicken wrap and roasted veggies were delicious. I have never had a meal here that I did not like.
After lunch, I started my shopping trip and went to Gap, Madewell, Lululemon, and Anthropologie. I had plans to go to a lot more stores, but I was in town to see my friends. So I wrapped my shopping trip up and went to Trader Joe's to pick up some flowers, wine, and snacks, and then I went to meet my friends.
We got ready and then went out to dinner. There was a short wait at El Barrio, so we walked down the street and had a drink at another bar before enjoying Mexican food and margaritas for dinner. Perfect girls' night meal!
I got to wear my new N Sale dress, and I absolutely love it! I also ordered it in navy and am still waiting for that one to come in! It is so comfortable, has pockets, comes in 3 colors, and is $39. All in all, it is a steal!
Then, we walked to a rooftop bar and enjoyed another drink with a gorgeous view of Birmingham before calling it a night.
Saturday
We started Saturday off with a walk. It was a gorgeous day, and it wasn't overly hot, which was nice. I couldn't get over how beautiful the landscaping and flowers were everywhere we went.
After our walk, we took showers and ate lunch at Melt. It was delicious. After lunch, we headed to Avondale. I have seen pictures of this place a million times but had never actually been. We had the best time sitting outside, drinking beer, watching dogs play, and hanging out with one of our friend's husband, another friend, her husband, and their baby. Birmingham is the most pet-friendly place I have ever visited! And the dogs were so well-behaved!
The dress I wore is included in the 20% off dress sale going on right now! Plus, it was already on sale, so now it is marked all the way down to $63.96! I was considering getting the pink one as well because it is the easiest throw-on-and-go summer dress, but I need a medium and it is sold out in pink. :( The good news is the green color is still fully stocked!
We walked to one more bar in the area, and then headed to Otey's, which is where we spent the rest of the night. This is where we got to meet up with our other best friend, her husband, and their dog. If you're not following @rooney_in_real_life on Instagram, I highly suggest it. He is absolutely precious! And we also got to celebrate one friend's birthday (a little early- her real birthday was yesterday, Happy Birthday Jacks!)!
All of these blurry shots and red eyes make us look slightly crazy, but those were the only pictures we had of all of us together, so I had to include them!
We headed home after Otey's and spent the rest of the night chatting before finally calling it a night after 3:00 am. First time I have stayed up that late in years, but we wanted to take advantage of every minute of our short time together!
Spending time with your best friends is just simply fabulous for the heart and soul. I loved my time with these 4 girls more than they know! Now, I'm counting down until our next reunion!
Thanks so much for reading this girls' weekend recap! Have a great day!
